Why I wrote what I write

I’ve had people that know I write erotica ask me why, and I’ve always struggled for an answer. Sure, I like sexy stories and romance and outright bawdy sex, but I also try to offer a bit of hope to people walking the same path I’m on. I got this email this morning, and it tells me what I write matters. Perhaps, more than all the other reasons, that is why I write what I write.

I would like to take the opportunity, however, to thank you for your stories. I absolutely love the stories your share! I know they are erotic by nature but I find that for me they predominantly feel like hope, and they help me to strengthen the connection with a core part of myself that I'm discovering, understanding and getting to know, especially when I'm feeling particularly low and dysphoric. In particular, my favourites are; "Awakenings", "It's Complicated", "The Beast and The Butterfly" and "All about Jesse". I re-read these stories over and over again, and love them so much! The world feels like such a dreadful place for transgender people right now, so it's a joy to escape into your stories and feel, especially given the happy endings. So, thank you for sharing your works <3

Best wishes,

Felicia

I share your objective to write positive tales and that it's perfectly alright to embrace who you are. I just wish I'd get such a thoughtful note one of these days.
Keep writing.

I remember seeing the recording of a concern where the artist sang a song going "You're on the right way" on and on. The public liked it (apparently.) I didn't.

A personal note. Writing is therapeutic, it clears the mind. Sometimes, it's possible to slip a problem you're having into a story and suddenly the reason for writing becomes crystal clear. It helps.... It helps me consider things from perspectives I'd never thought possible.
Other times, it's simply relaxing to slide into character in a new story and immerse yourself in their world.
In other words, it's fun...

I like what you said about reading other writers stories. I have favourites that I re-read, because the author managed to explain my own thoughts better than I ever could.

As long as you want to write, as long as you’re inspired, as long as it’s quality, I hope you can keep writing as you will. Good luck and I’m glad you’re getting positive feedback.
