Note: This is not about comparison, so please do not feel the need to list other people you think are wonderful TOO. Everyone knows that there are too many to list. This is about Chris. Because I want to. Anyone want to join in, feel free, the water is fine...

so goes the legend

the band played on as the titanic was sinking

vampiredust not only played on as our poetry forum started taking on water, but he played harder, better, more.... and on the side, he generously showered everyone with encouragement, support, enthuiasm.

AND set out to work on re-building the ship, setting a course for adventure....we may spring a few leaks here and there, someone may have fits and throw away all of your grits, but all and all this is a great boat to sail, and I am glad vampiredust is on board.

Sealace,

love your analogy about the forum and the Titanic.

Chris has been there doing reviews so much, i thought he was the only one for a while!! I admire his tenacity, his abundance of excellent work!!

Not to mention, (but I will) the fact that he cares about people, he has messagedme to ask if I was alright on days when I really wasnt and somehow he knew and just his asking made a difference, when someone cares, it really does matter!! :rose:

Thank you for everything you do, Vampiredust, you are appreciated!!

Well, lessee:
  1. He writes really well.
  2. He writes a lot, so there is a lot of work to look at. This helps by example.
  3. He reviews practically every day. I know how much work that is.
  4. He is very good at pointing out new poets of interest. I'm sure they appreciate it. I know I appreciate it.
  5. He is sharing his success in getting poems placed elsewhere. That is inspirational.
  6. I really liked his 100 Words piece. (His first, wasn't it?)
On the down side, though:
  1. He's from the UK, so he probably doesn't know anything about baseball.
  2. I'm jealous, because he can get cricket matches on TV and I can't.

I don't know him very well at all, but he's seems great. :)

Anna, why is the poetry board the titanic? Sure, there are problems. Always have been. But I didn't know it was a sinking ship. But why now? And Should I unhook my floatation devices? :cathappy:

I love

Vampiredust, Sealace, Maria, Calli and all the writers who post on the passion thread regularly. I read their work for inspiration every day before I worked on my 30/30 poem and appreciated their insight and skill. :rose:

Jenn, I'm flattered. Thank you all for your loveliness. You guys are the best

Chris,

I love how caring and kind you are. You already know how much I love your poetry and how I can't wait to get online each day to check out what you've written while I've been asleep.

When I read the poem you'd written about being burnt out I shouted 'Oh No! Not Chris!' and then realised you'd gone on to write half a dozen more poems. lol You had me fooled there for a moment for sure. ;)

I sure hope you stick around. You are one of the people who put life into Litland and you are also one of the people who give me much food for thought. I am glad to know a little of you. Thank you.

*hugs*

Yeah. vampire is da bomb.

But I'm confuzzled about the Titanic thingy. Has the forum been sinking any more recently than it's been lamented to be doing twice every year that I have been here?

Vampiredust is great. I like reading his poems and reviews. One thing: can anyone throw away your grits but you? I'm the only one in charge of my grits. I take full responsibility for their location.

ah well the analogy was not intended to be water tight- just an image that came into my mind.

I did not realize lulls of this magnitude came twice a year! Maybe I was on break during the last ones

okay maybe it was not the best analogy, I did not have the image of problems, I just had the image of many many poets floating away on life boats, (surely you have noticed the exodus?) but in this case, the ship is not really going down, that was the main point I was trying to make. (and I know people come and go and come and go all the time, I just do not remember seeing so many leaving all at once and for so long-- I am not criticizing, I think it is great for people to spread out their experiences etc etc etc etc and I have taken many lit. vacations-- they are critical!)

Chris was, on many days, the only person to comment on new poems at all, posting on threads like crazy, really pulling things together. Hope you get to know him better, he is a mad talent hard workin' man. Not to disrespect anyone, I know I know I know a thousand times how many people are responsible for this forum, how hard many many people work and have worked over many many years~ I just wanted to send out a call to the new wave of dedication and talent that has been washing up on literotica shores too.

:cathappy:

Yeah, there are some members who have been here since the early days of the poetry board, and we've worked hard to make it what it is (or once was--many newer poets are making it what it is. :)) But we did it for selfish reasons. We wanted to be here. We wanted a good place to write and discuss poetry--same as the newer poets, I'm sure. I have noticed Chris' posts popping up a lot. Thanks, Chris. It's good to have good people like you around.

And yes, poets have drifted away and will continue. I think what bothered me was the thought of the board once again sinking or dying. I've heard that so many times in the past--though I'm sure I've said it, too. It just gives me a gloomy feeling and makes me sad. I wish I could be here more, but I mostly do the background work, at least for now.

I was going to add my name...
I like him, he's got...how do you say "balls" in English?

bollocks

I think.
Thank you,

I think

What say VD, is saying "you have bollocks" acceptable? Or is the fine tuning of the American "Balls" not there.

I prefer the word balls

We use the word bollocks as another way of saying fuck that
