In the news this morning Tampa General says its preparing for ebola patients.

I s'pose they didn't read Laurel's post.

Dear old mom was an RN. Well still is at 74. Anyway. She did a lot of what would now be surgical assistant stuff. So cleanliness was next to godliness. I can take care of sick people (if I know they are sick and think about) with-out getting sick. Mostly.

Usually though the sick asshole I am making soup for, gets some other dumb asshole sick, and I get sick from them while they are asymptomatic.

So, even the best protocols fail. PS Phisoderm does NOT cause cancer or Mom would not be with us. And Merthiolate was awesome.

So the thing is people keep saying that you have to have contact with bodily fluids. People got so used to AIDS being not quite as communicable as we thought initially that they think this is no big deal. As long as an Ebola Patient is not ass-fucking you.

I dunno how long the virus can live but if contact with DEAD as in COLD people can get you, this is a hearty little bastard. Do these people that say "you have to come in contact with bodily fluids" not know that that is exactly how the common cold spreads? Nose to hand to doorknob to hand, to picking a stye out of your eye?

Now might be a good time to sequester myself in the garret and work on the next Great American Novel.
