Dozens of former Republican and Democrat officials have teamed up with Andrew Yang to join a third party, the Forward Party, which will launch on Thursday, according to a Reuters report.

Because if they became Libertarians the Libertarian Party might get then blame for their failures rather than them getting the blame directly.

Andrew Yang's guiding political principle is "Andrew Yang should be in charge." That's about it. Oh, and I guess he's still anti-circumcision, the one policy pronouncement I recall from his presidential run aside from his half-assed UBI thing.
