I don't mean for Pub midterms candidates, I mean the 2020 re-election rallies for himself.

No other president ever did that before the midterms.

Well, it’s not like he’s doing much work in Washington. And you can only play so many rounds of golf.

Because he's discovered that it is effective?

You're really saying that no other President went out and gave political speeches leading into a midterm? I'd like to see you attempt to prove that...

because you can't receive mass adulation from the lower end of the gene pool if you sit in the oval office all day?

Caught an interview with his 2020 campaign manager on TV this morning, where he talks about them as "shows" rather than "rallies" and what was going on there was "entertainment" rather than "political campaigning." Said it was to appeal to emotions rather than reasoning and that it worked last time, so . . .

But what's it supposed to accomplish? Any such thing done before the midterms will be forgotten by 2020.

Feeds his ego, most fun thing about the job. Celebrity adulation thing.

So he can issue tickets, sell merchandise and prevent access and stage the crowd by preventing access at the door to any protest or counter-Tiny demonstrations.

Which he cannot do at an appearance as POTUS.

Basically it let's him be autocratic.

“Presidential schedules obtained by Politico show that last Tuesday alone, Trump had nine hours of “Executive Time” — three times as much unstructured free time as he had scheduled for actual presidential duties, like meetings, briefings, and public appearances. That day, he had blocks of as long as two hours and 45 minutes to just … chill, we guess. (Some aides told Politico he makes presidential-related calls during these times, but he also went on a tirade on Twitter during one of his unscheduled blocks that week.) His schedule Tuesday was more lax than the other days that week, though his official duties still began no earlier than 11 a.m. every day last week.”

Saving his energy for his nighttime rallies. At least we’re not paying him.

*chuckle*

You state that he is holding election rallies.

I do think that it's on you to at some point to build a case for this contention.

Candidate rallies to build enthusiasm and try to keep more Republicans in office for the agenda of the next two years?
But as your answer displays, you don't have any real evidence, but the charge you are leveling, man is that serious!

I don't pretend to answer for him on that, but I can see where the show must roll along for Trump supporters to remain mesmerized by it.
