the question is not why i write but why, exactly, do I write porn. I write porn because it's that only site where i can get quality feedback on my writing. That and the fact that I like knowing my writing excites people, and that some eagerly await the next installment of whatever.

Good Question
I tried writing as a 40th birthday present to myself. I was getting close to the painful milestone and didn't feel like I was doing much with my life, so wanted to try something different. My first post was pretty shaky, so I wrote a second story to prove I could do it better. It was so well received that I'm completely into it now. It's both for the rush of the reader's reactions (the emails can be so amazing), and because I enjoy the challenge of taking the beginning of an idea and working it until there's a finished product. Although I think I'm getting better, it doesn't seem like a career kind of thing, so it's just for the joy (and sometimes torture) of doing it.
