Why do you write?

I started writing in my twenties. They were the days of pen and paper, or a manual typewriter and carbon paper copies. Writing sci-fi / fantasy stories was yet just another hobby which would ultimately drive my wife crackers at times - just like the photography, the music and the railway modelling.

I'm now 63 years old - still writing sci-fi / fantasy and now seeing if I can also write erotica. The photography stills happens on occasions, as do the musical projects.

The railway however is in the loft, dismantled and in bits, but could once again surface when full retirement arrives as I now have a grandson.

I am writing this in my hotel room in Romford in London, England. I've been editing my latest erotica story for a couple of hours and needed a short break, but will shortly get back to it...

I write because I enjoy pulling the tales out of my head, spending time with my characters with all their faults and failings, as well as learning all the good things about them. I can quite easily lose myself in a storyline and develop it further as I'm sitting in the car, driving around the country in my real job for three days of the week. It's enjoyable to sit alone and do this... really... it just is...

Fun, innit? I’ve got a hot little number that has appeared as a tertiary character in a number of my stories, often as the subject of conversation by others. She could be the soul of virtue, or conversely she could offer blowjobs for heroin. There’s no way to know... until I feature her in a story.

And I doubt I ever will. Muahahaha.

Sounds like Black Lagoon to moi

I write because it's a creative outlet. With a blank page in front of me I can create an entire universe, if the mood strikes me. In a way, it's like being God. I can create characters and breathe life into them. I can make them do or say damn near anything. It's really quite a head rush to wield that kind of power.

There are a million ways to construct a sentence, but there's only one way to write it to say exactly what you want it to say. I enjoy the challenge of expressing myself with elegant precision. Writing, and especially re-writing, allows for the precision of expression you rarely, if ever, get the chance to experience through mere conversation.

I write because it proves to me all those years of college courses weren't entirely wasted. I majored in math and science, but a career in that field never worked out for me. I really enjoyed the lit and composition courses I took in college, and I'm grateful I learned the skills I needed to learn to write well. I like to write because it's my way of giving back, of using my skills to amuse or entertain others. Now if only I could get others to actually read my stories, that would be great.

I write because I enjoy creating characters and stories and trying to craft them in an interesting way. I hope some readers enjoy what I write, and I get a large audience here. I generally go with long-form slow-build romances. I'm trying not to obsess about scores.

I was a long-time reader and found myself immersed in stories by the likes of Carey Thomas and Shaima42. I had an idea for a story based on a song I wrote and started it. I made a number of internal references to Carey's stories, and I got her OK to do it, and after finishing the first part, I kept adding parts. I'm finalizing yet another part of the family saga now.

I'm also writing new stories with new characters. F/F and M/F so far. I enjoy thinking through story lines and dialogue, and wrote a Halloween submission--completely dialogue--on a daily walk this morning, which I hastened to type on my return.

Why do I write? Because the ideas keep coming, I've got better at what I do, I find the process fascinating (where on earth do the ideas come from, who the hell are all these women in my stories?). And the buzz when someone writes to tell you, "I came last night reading your story. Thank you for that." That doesn't happen in your average day time job ;).

It does make it worthwhile doesn't it? I got this a few minutes ago:

I am reading your story now, cock in hand, slowly squeezing my head as I read. My wife is next to me, her head on my shoulder, a wry smile on her face as she watches me type with one hand and stroke my cock with the other.

We wanted to say hello.

It made me smile.

I like that. I had one not to long ago from a couple who role played one of my stories and that just made my day.

I think that I may have taken the wrong train. I got a note from a reader who said that he started reading one of my stories for a bit of 'dick whacking'.

'About halfway through, I forgot all about the dick whacking,' he said. 'Great story tho.'

Oh, well, you can't win them all. :)

LOL... on the bright side for you, maybe he got shoulder cramps!

I visited this website many years ago by accident and enjoys the stories written by others. While I enjoy some stories, I want to make the story exactly the way I want it :)

I have been writing short stories and stuff like that since I was about eight or nine years old. Sometime in my teens I gave up writing because a ton my teachers were fairly harsh critics and did not like my subject matter. Not erotic btw. In my twenties I had brief run in with a story exchange with someone I met online before the days of Literotica. She rather enjoyed my stories which were now of an erotic nature. Later I met my wife who does a bit of erotica writing as well and helping her flesh out a few idea got me writing again a few years ago. I do dabble in non erotica fiction in usually a horror or sci-fi story, something I don't like using in my erotic stories. I kinda use my experience here to build more skills so hopefully someday I can write a novel of the dozen or so ideas floating around in my head.
