Why Do You Women Paint Your Nails?

It makes me feel cute and sexy.. I tend to go bright in shades bright pinks and greens are my favourite. Or quirky things like stamping or racing stripes. Toenails are painted to match

Today's choice are bright pink alternated with matte black

I started using nail polish as a child. Have worn it almost constantly since the age of 12 except for one day when I took the polish off and fell asleep.

As a child, I was initially attracted to the nice colors but the real reason is, I like the feel of it!

My mom never wore it and her nails, although fairly short, were sharp AF! She loved to poke people. Still does. It hurts and often draws blood. I quickly learned that if I painted my nails, they were not sharp like hers.

When I was younger and polish was all full of nasty chemicals, but lasted a long time on the nails, I would get fancy with it. My friend's dad was an artist. He would paint one color on the nails, then use Testor's (model car paint) to make fancy designs and then seal it with a top coat. I learned to do that too.

Nowadays the polish is free from toxins but chips easily. Glitter polish usually has more staying power but so much so that it's hell to remove. I wore that for a while because a certain younger man that I know was infatuated by my nails. But... I hate to be that high maintenance. These days I tend to wear very neutral, subdued shades. Currently a soft pink shimmer. I just like the smooth feel, especially when I'm inserting my fingers in...um...various places! :D

I have short stubby fingers and weak nails. I get acrylics to make the nails longer which then makes my fingers look longer. I paint them because I do a lot of home renovations and dark nail polish hides the grime better and occasionally to make me smile.

Added side note....Hubby is happy to pay for the little indulgence because he loves for me to scratch his back.

I never paint my fingernails. Originally I think that stemmed from playing the piano fairly seriously and having to keep them short during a time when long pointy nails were the thing. But now it's more about preferring how they look 'bare', plus not wanting the maintenance burden. And I don't want anyone else doing them, thanks. Especially not all that gel and glue and surface-filing and stuff.

Toenails though, that's different. I like painting my toenails. I think women's feet look better with painted nails and I enjoy doing it. They are currently navy blue.

Edit: forgot to say that although I don't paint my fingernails, I am quite attentive to my lady garden...

Some of my nail beds are awkward looking to me. My nails are kept short. I can't wear acrylic or gel sets because I do a lot with my hands (cleaning, fixing household appliances and not so gentle stuff). I don't wear nail polish.

Toenails though, yes I do. It's the only part of me, besides my skin, that I try to keep girly, when I can afford to. I can't afford to do much nor find the time a lot, but it's an awesome experience to get a decent pedicure. It feels good and my feet looks so much better afterwards. The toenails painted is the "icing on the cake" feeling to being pampered.

I think cute and mantained feet and hands are sexy, keep it up ladies. As far as I am told it makes them feel better about themselves, including going to the hair salon and dressing up. You look good, you feel good I guess. I would be worried if a woman who is used to fix herself up suddenly stopped on a consistent basis, that usually means she's not feeling her best. If I am wrong ladies, let me know
