people to submit stories but grammaritcal errors but if one person forgets to put in a comma or two you reject the story?

I have submitted numerous stories that have been rejected by editors the reason being "Punctuation"

I have written numerous times to Literotica about this and have asked someone to email me an answer.

I would like an answer to my question please

please write to me at mick987g@yahoo.com

I would like to know , thank you.

":,.'!"

How about if I proof your story for you? I'm good at punctuation. Send me a PM and I'll give you an email address you can mail the story too.

The answer to your question--which has been posted repeatedly--is that "we" in the Editor's Forum neither "allow" nor "reject" stories. Not our job--never has been.

BTW, thanks for teaching me the word, "grammaritcal." It had previously escaped inclusion in my lexicon.

*hugs*

Because I wanted to.

If you write the way you post- you need to get a GOOD EDITOR, and possibly a fifth grade English book. The combination might get you through the oh-so-arduous task of submission.

Seriously- these people give THEIR spare time and effort to us, and they have NO CONTROL over this site. If you refuse to admit you have a problem, or seek help for it- WTF do you think you're doing coming in here and taking that tone with these amazing volunteers?

It's a very good thing you haven't gotten approved- I would take a day to do some new reviews just to rip you a new one.

--------------------------------------------

*HUGS* to the Editors at large. Sorry I got all ranty on your forum.

Admitting you are a butthead is your first step

Falling to fly. you need to get a life.

Why do I even try ask questions when all I get is grief like this

Thanks Tanya

I appreicate your offer but I am not signed up for PM's

You seem to have a little more COMPASSION for us newbies then othere editors here

The reason I posted my question here is because of the sub heading of this forum

"A place to discuss story editing issues with our volunteer editors."

Maybe I was wrong about wanting to discuss my issue with a volunteer editor.

Are you looking for help, or do you want to vent?

I am relatively new, but there are many stories that have some serious grammatical issues. I assume these writers do not take advantage of an editor. I cannot envision your story being rejected for a few punctuation mistakes. Heck I have a few punctuation mistakes in a few of my stories that have been posted. Therefore, my question what else was wrong with your story?

Did it follow all of the submission rules? Is there something else you may have missed? If you are that pissed about it, why don’t you post your story and let any of us VOLUNTEERS look at it?

Discuss it is one thing...but it wasn't a discussion, at least it didn't look that way, that you seem to want in your post; it was a clear rant and you're ranting at the wrong person. That's what FtF was telling you. Telling us (Volunteer Editors) what we already know won't get you approved quicker; not that we can change anything about it since the ones approving stories are not us the Volunteer editors but Lit's people.

Take your complaint to Lit's people, send them PMs from here till Sunday next if you want to....just don't expect us (VE) to be able to take care of that complaint.

As HappilyM stated, why don't you post your story, or send it to a VE and see what he/she has to say about your story? If you assertion is correct and your story has been rejected for a few minor punctuation error you'll be able to submit it again with a note saying that it has been checked by a VE and there didn't seem to be a problem anymore; if you assertion is NOT correct and there were more than a few punctuation error you'll have gain invaluable knowledge and you won't be none the worse.

A simple and polite, "Volunteer editors are not the same editors that accept/reject stories," would have sufficed. You all see the same question and the same misunderstanding here over and over again, but it's always new to the person asking and it's a very easy mistake to make. If you're tired of answering the question, rather than attack the person asking, why not just leave it for someone else to answer nicely?

I must agree having it answered nicely would be my preferred route. But the reason we've begun to get "up in arms" about it, is simple. When creating a thread on the forums, you're asked to first make a search about the topic to see if one has already been posted. And by doing so, 70-90% of the people who ask this question will get there answer.

Another reason is because the post itself can feel almost like a personal attack agaisnt us VEs when he says we're the ones rejecting his stories, though we aren't, and though his opening wasn't TOO aggressive, it felt more like a vent or attack tehn a question. And we put forth a lot of good tiem and effort to help those here, and when some-one makes what feels like an attack against us, ESPECIALLY when they haven't tried utilizing our services so as to give them the right to, it becomes even more offensive.

This is my feelings about the situation here, any VE is welcome to post there objections to anything I tried to state in our defense, and any other Lit-goer has every right to criticise me if they wish, I won't take any offense to it, because they have every right to do so due to freedom of speech.

Toa-Lin, I do understand what you're saying. I just see it differently, I guess. I didn't read it as an attack, I read the original post as a plea for help from a frustrated person who had tried e-mailing multiple times and never received a reply. Not everyone is familiar with the forums.

Don't mind me, I usually only lurk on the Editor forum anyway and have long since removed myself from the VE list. I just get sad when I see someone new to Lit get jumped all over for asking for help, that's all.

Agree with you all the way, Mindy.

VE's:
No good to posture as a martyr-- offering service, always sooo misunderstood!-- while crapping on random strangers. If being a martyr offends you, quit being one. If, on the other hand, you do have a genuine impulse to service, for chrissake act like it and help someone.
it's always new to the person asking and it's a very easy mistake to make. If you're tired of answering the question, rather than attack the person asking, why not just leave it for someone else to answer nicely?
Masterof smiles:
To get your story edited, that is, the punctuations fixed or whatever it may be, the only thing you can do is get someone else to look at it.

You say you are not signed up for PM's. Then you should do that, sign up for PMs or else figure out some other way to place your story in someone's hands for editing. The simplest thing would be to take Tanyachrs up on the generous offer. Sign up for PMs and do that, is my advice.

If you are unwilling to make PMs available, what do you have in mind? We are editors, but we still need some method to move text from one place to another. HappilyM even suggested you post the story here on the thread. That's fine, but it is one-way. An e-mail or PM link will allow the editor to reply to you with an edited story.

But we can't get your story on the site. That's Literotica, not us. We can and do edit them for you, or proofread them, or whatever, and we do it for nothing. You could make bigger mistakes than to snoot that service, but it's your call.

That's quite a kick in the ass you've given us (VE), Cant and Min; but in retrospect I think it's well deserved. :)

We, all of us, probably read too much into the threadstarter's rant and took it personally instead of seeing it for what it really was: a cry for help and some basic explanations.

Thank you for reminding me that I asked the same questions once upon a time and was thankful to have someone answer it nicely instead of biting my head off. :rose:

I rather doubt the reason your submission was rejected was because of a few commas.

My first submission was rejected because I had screwed up the quotation marks completely all the way through the story. I read the resources that they linked me to and I fixed my story and resubmitted it. Bottom line, I learned from my mistakes and progressed.

Well, it must be more than a comma or two, judging from the stories I've seen posted.

Seriously, Lit has definite Style Guidelines that outline how stories need to be formatted to be published. If you ever want to be published, pay attention to what they're looking for.

I'm not saying your stories suck ('cause I haven't read 'em) or you've got a legitimate gripe (see aforementioned disclaimer). But don't automatically retaliate ... refine yoiur craft instead, and achieve success by tailoring your submissions to the guidelines.

Zack! Long time no see.

Lady C, my apologies. I was chopfallen and my have over-reacted.

Apologies accepted but really not necessary, Cant. :rose:

Thanks

Mini and Cant for your kind words. Means a lot to me.

I will try rewriting my stories and see if they can be published later on.

I meant no offense, and have taken none from your post or cantdog's I would have been more ten happy to point him teh right direction, but multiple people already had, so instead, I chose to simply throw my two cents in.

If the question gets asked so often, why not pin an explanation to the top of this board?
