Why do we write

I decided to post this as a new subject even though it covers most of the dominating threads across this board, I dont want to get involved with all the poetry politics etc, have not been around long enough to be qualified to do so. However I think the point to Literotica and these boards, is about being a writer and writing. Whilst there is always going to be difference of opinion and so on, I think the Lit team know best they have done a fine job so far and shit Im just thankfull I have some where to publish my stories for the reader who wants to read erotica.

If an individual makes a decision regarding THEIR work then it is their decision and should be left up to them, for example we get so pissed at people publishing our work without our permission yet when someone decides to actually do something with their own work, it causes a heated discussion, remember its their work.

More positives on writing and less negatives so as our writing is our main focus not embroiled in politics, as our focus should be to the readers who support this site.
Cheers:D

Welcome

Hudson--

Hope you enjoy your time at Lite. This is a thriving and supportive community. For many of us, it is extended family. Ever fall out with a family member?

Folks make up and move on.

Be well.

Peace,

daughter

The real world is limited, whereas the imagination is unlimited. I read & write erotic stories so my imagination can take flight. In the realm of the stories I write, there are no STDs or unwanted pregnancies, which helps my main character to attract women. My stories bring out the Casanova in me; they enable me to express ideas & feelings that I couldn't express in the real world.

Why? Why? Why?

Why do we work hard? Why do we dream? Why must you ask that question?

I write because I love to. I always have. There is no better way to express ideas about how the world is and how it could be or should be. Let's face it, life isn't fair! The good don't always get their reward in this life, nor do the bad always get punished. Nice decent guys don't always get the girl of their dreams, nor do the most deserving ladies end up with the man who can really make them happy. That where we writers come in, to tip the balance just a bit and take the reader to a world that makes complete sense or absolute nonsense.

But more than that, I write because I cannot not write. Several times a day I get ideas, thoughts, intuitions about characters, plots, language, situations, justices and injustices. These thoughts and feelings have found the perfect outlet in my writing, here at Lit and elsewhere. I think, I feel, I write!

I don't think anyone that loves to write could understand why someone doesnt write at all. I think for some they just don't have the imagination or knowledge to do so Or they hated school so much that any writing feels like a homework assignment. Peoples brains work differntly. Some are more inclined to write out their thoughts.

I for one write because it puts me into another world. And I love to share that with others.

Because the can...

MaxSebastian asks why DON'T people write. What a question!!!!!!!!!! :)

I think the answer is the same as all things. Some people are doers, others aren't. You can't have an up without a down.

We could see non-writers as gracious participants of the human race who chose not to write simply to give us writers a better chance. Or we could see them as people who simply prefer to read.

We all have different lifestyles. Some people may not have the time to write because of their careers or lifestyle (or perhaps they're closet-cases who keep all of their prose hidden in a box, too shy to share it?).

People choose not to write because they can. Just like writers choose to write because WE can. That and the fact that we want want inflict ourselves under others!!!!!!!!!

That's my worthless 2 cents....even if we don't have 2 cent pieces here in Australia any more!

Oh...and to KinkyFreakyBi-girl....I really enjoyed your story. Looking forward to the next installment. Keep it up (so to speak!)

And now for something totally different. I write to stay sane... Okay somewhat sane...

LOL, see <G> I write for him. At least that's why I write the erotica I post here and ASSTR and ES. It's for him and he either likes it enough to allow it published on the web or loves it enough to insist it be kept for print/web/paid publication. So far he hasn't disliked anything I have written, although I sent him soemthing this morning that may cause him to balk .....

sigh

I am in trouble... I got quoted and by someone who actually uses pax ... whoever you are thanks for making my day not the quote the pax.....

Ummmmm, D/s or Gor??? Forgive me. I've no clue what your talking about (and feeling just a little silly)

Sorry afraid I am so jaded that romance gets confused with some other things. They are neither good not bad just different. I do apologize

I actually I think I will plead ignorance since when it comes to women it is the only defense for a man.

Why I write

I know this kind of thing has been said already, but I write because my imagination has a near unquenchable thirst... but that's what you get for being an only child in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere :(

The sense of adventure i like to feel is something that needs to be quelled otherwise i can't concentrate properly... and when i write i create whole new worlds, galaxies and sometimes mind-boggling scenarios...but also minutely-detailed descrption and intricate little moments... i love being able to see exactly in my mind what is going on, just like a movie screen. I lean towards Sci-Fi and Fantasy, but thats just who i am, it could apply to any other genre.

The story i'm writing at the moment is accompanied by pages and pages of sketches, notes, backgrounds, drawings and resource material... i immerse myself (far too much some would say). hey, i don't even know if its any good, but I enjoy writing it and that should be all that matters

More than two cents worth...but as the Pound is worth more than the Dollar i think two pennies is about right...:D
