They don't give a damn about us. Does it make us feel better to know that they are only human, just like us?

They bore the hell out of me. I'd rather watch paint dry.

I don't care what they do as long as it does not endanger anyone I care about.

Yeah, I have to join the chorus and say I don't care at all. But I will point out that apparently SOMEBODY does, even if they don't want to admit it. Otherwise, there wouldn't be all those trashy magazines and tv shows devoted to the subject.

So, come on, somebody admit you're fascinated.

All I've read here recently is uninformed, unjustified insults hurled at Mariah Carey so apparently somebody cares about them.

i dont care one jot about mariah carey
but have you heard she/,...................................... really!!!

I haven't read the Mariah Carey threads because I really do NOT care about their private lives. Well, maybe if they murder someone it might get my interest.

i don't.

i don't see why just because everyone knows the person's name that they have to know every second of their lives.

i personally don't give a shit.

I personally don't care, but I'm an entertainment FANATIC, so I watch out of some odd curiousity. But, if they were left alone, I wouldn't care in the least. I know how annoying it must be to be hassled, but it comes with the territory.

The only time I care about celebritys personal lifes is if it'll affect a show that I enjoy. Other then that, I couldn't really give a rats ass about them. Maybe a mouses, but definatly not a rats ass. That's just sick.

???

I asked the same question yesterday, in one of the Mariah Carey threads. Siren suggested something to the effect that they live the lives we fantasize about, whether those fantasies are justified or not. And, we know who they are....they're attention seeking people, generally speaking. Usually, they've intentionally entered a high profile career, essentially seeking fame. So, when they suddenly want privacy, it's like slapping a taboo on something that people already like. And look how well that works for the "war on drugs".

Gotta say, I like her spunk. But I still disagree somewhat.

I think largely, it gives people a point of reference in casual conversation. I have more inane conversations about celebrities, and it's nice when confronted with strangers or those with whom you share little common ground. It's an instant conversation. Do you watch a top-rated series? Did you hear about that series' actor going into rehab again? Bingo, there's a topic. Etc.

I love movies, so I read the trades, and trash like EW and Movieline, which are just gossip-fests at least fifty percent of the time. Do I care? No. But I remember it.
