Why Do Republicans Hate American Families?

In other countries, universal resources are common. From daycare to healthcare and college, many countries have incorporated these benefits to assist citizens and now President Joe Biden is looking to do the same.

An op-ed published by The Guardian discusses Republicans' resistance to universal daycare as if it were the plague. The American Families Plan, if passed, would contribute vastly to much-needed improvements for the United States' childcare system. The piece of legislation would also provide billions in funding for three critical areas in the childcare system: universal preschool, paid family leave, and subsidized childcare.

Although a substantial number of Americans would likely approve of the plan, Republicans are not thrilled about it because there is one detail they are not thrilled about. The plan would be funded by the higher taxes that will be imposed on the wealthy 1%. For that reason, Republican lawmakers have no interest in the plan coming to fruition.

The author highlighted how the core of Republicans' belief systems deeply contradicts their opposition to universal childcare. "Who wouldn't support investing in children?" she wrote. "The party of "family values", of course! The party that loves advocating for embryos but doesn't seem quite so keen on helping kids."

Referencing a survey that ranked the U.S. as the second-worst place to raise a family, she argued that the proposed plan could help to improve the country's family-friendly ranking. Despite the obvious need for such a plan, Republicans are pushing back.

Americans are now watching, for the third time in just 30 years, a Democratic president clean up the economic and social debris of a prior Republican presidency.

They’re starting to figure out that crushing the middle-class didn’t produce prosperity and stability, but instead destroyed tens of millions of people’s lives and dreams.

And they’re seeing the hollowness of the Republican’s promises as we all watch, aghast, as the GOP scrambles to mobilize the last remnants of its white racist base, at the same time waging an all-out war on the ability of Black, young and working-class people to vote.

President Biden’s speech was the beginning of the end for the Republicans, although it appears only a few of them realize it.

Let’s hope the damage the GOP has done over the last 40 years isn’t so severe that America can’t be brought back from the brink of chaos and desperation.

Hopefully, it’s a new day in America.

Conflating "family" with "Government raising your kids for you" is on the 'scum bucket' range of the disgusting scale.

I'm 55 years old, so I've spent decades watching as the Republicans referred to themselves as the "party of family values. And what I've learned over the decades is that "party of family values" is a thinly veiled code phrase for:

1. Party of denying legal rights to gays and lesbians
2. Party of publicly maligning gays, lesbians and transgender Americans.
3. Party of denying women autonomy over their own bodies.
4. Party of planting bombs in Planned Parenthood clinics.
5. Party of burning down Planned Parenthood clinics
6. Party of planting bombs in gay bars and gay nightclubs
7. Party of shooting up Planned Parenthood clinics
8. Party of shooting up gays bars and gay nightclubs

Rather than say all that out loud, they just call themselves the "Party of Family Values". It sounds so much more marketable than "Party of harassment, discrimination, misogyny and domestic terrorism".

Nothing wrong with making it easier for hard working families to raise well educated and well adjusted children. That would be government’s highest calling. (I realize “well adjusted” is a concept you’re not too familiar with.)

You think that's what they are doing? LOL

That would be government’s highest calling.

Many tens of millions disagree and would like the right to exist without the totalitarian god state raising their kids to be leftist bigot scum.

(I realize “well adjusted” is a concept you’re not too familiar with.)

It is, I just don't consider "Indoctrinated as far left, loathing of white people and hard authoritarian about all of it as possible." to be the same thing as "Well educated and well adjusted." .

The Republican Party portrays itself as being family oriented and as the party that represents the true American values. Let's zero in on the GOP claim of being family oriented.

For decades, Rush Limbaugh has been one of the loudest and most visible leaders of the Republican Party. Limbaugh has three divorces under his belt and has been married four times.

Donald Trump, even though he no longer holds political office, still seems to lead the Republican Party. Trump has been divorced twice and is on his third marriage. He keeps marrying younger and younger women and millions of Americans have been disgusted by Trump’s creepy crush on his daughter.

Republican leader Newt Gingrich has been divorced three times. Following a predictable pattern among Republicans, Newt divorces his wives when they get too old, and he upgrades to a woman who is younger and prettier.

Newt Gingrich’s second wife said that Gingrich admitted to a six-year affair with a Congressional aide. And then he asked he asked her if she would share him with the other woman.

“He wanted an open marriage,” Marianne Gingrich said, “and I refused."

All this happened, she said, during the same time Gingrich condemned President Bill Clinton for his lack of moral leadership.

She said Newt moved for the divorce just months after she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

"He also was advised by the doctor when I was sitting there that I was not to be under stress. He knew," she said.

Gingrich divorced his first wife, Jackie, as she was being treated for cancer. His relationship with Marianne began while he was still married to Jackie but in divorce proceedings, Marianne said.
Marianne Gingrich said Newt has never expressed any such regrets or apologized to her.

The Republicans divorce their wives, marry others and go about their merry ways, leaving their ex-wives behind to bear the responsibility of raising their children. They are home wreckers, family dividers and quick to run to the divorce courts.

The Republicans have made a big issue of family values. But, with their record, who's going to believe them?

Well I have to agree with CK, if you used him as the "shining example", then the Government has totally fucked up in that respect....

I'm all for lots of programs like universal child care, health care, whatever but whenever people say we should do something because someone else does then I just immediately assume that person is an idiot.

Why Do Republicans Hate American Families?

Which Republicans are we talking about? The greedy sociopath billionaire ruling class Republicans like the Koch Brothers? The political whores who knowingly do the bidding of the billionaire class like Newt Gringrich? The political whores too stupid to know they're whoring themselves for the billionaire class like your average Fox News bunny? The ignorant dupes who vote against their own best interests with slogans like, "Keep your government hands off my Medicare!"?

There are lots of reasons Republicans hate American families. All of them based in either greed, ignorance, racism, sexism, or some other form anti-social bigotry.

I fail to see how gays, lesbians and planned parenthood have anything to do with family values, they're actually antithetical to the family unit. Gays and lesbians can't procreate and planned parenthood is the monster that kills babies by the thousands. Not saying that gays and lesbians don't have civil rights it's just a stretch to compare them as stalworths of nuclear family values.

Republicans don't advocate for violence. That being said, blue shitholes are churning up violence in the name of progress. LMFAO :D

If you believe for 1 second that the top 1 percent are the only ones paying for this, you are delusional! I would rather pay for my own life decisions and let others pay for theirs. Their is already FMLA. Don't want to pay daycare? Don't have kids or figure out a way to have a parent home. Want your kids to get a usable education? Save money to put them in college or send them to trade school. And maybe have them get a degree in something that leads to a real career instead of gender studies or social justice. Jeez some people are gullible. I only want from the government what is neccesary, not what pushes the ideals of some onto everyone else

Republicans and other conservative Americans prefer raising their own children. They prefer to instill their moral and family values in the minds of their children rather than expose them to more of the emerging woke, communist, doctrines they're forced by economics to subject their children to in public school systems across the country.

Concerned parents come home after work and find themselves spending their limited time with their kids correcting the damage done to their impressionable little intellects by the "woke" bullshit they were exposed to at school and are simply opposed to programs that increase their children's exposure to Democrat/Chinese style indoctrination. Hope that answers your question. :D

You don't need any better example of this to reveal the idiotic short-sightedness of folks like Corny. This isn't just raising others' kids. Who does Corny think is going to try to keep his meds balanced for him when he's in assisted care--somebody else's kid that somebody else other than Corny took on the burden of raising and educating to the point of being able to keep old Corny alive a bit longer than his due date expiration?

Gays and lesbians certainly can procreate, and many do. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with parenting skills.

Would you choose to deny any rights to an infertile couple if one was male and one female? Or claim that they’re antithetical to family values?

Except they aren't capable of raising well educated and well adjusted children. Just look at what is coming out of public schools now.

I don’t know what shithole you occupy, but I see many brilliant and eager students being accepted to leading colleges and universities as we speak. Your confirmation bias has blinded you.

Talk about gullible. Nothing like some working class dope boot licking for the billionaire class.

America's richest 400 families now pay a lower tax rate than the middle class

The U.S. tax system is supposed to be progressive, meaning that wealthier households pay a larger share of their income to the taxman than the middle class and the poor. Yet after the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, that's no longer the case: For the first time in a century, America's 400 richest families now pay lower taxes than people in the middle class.

Creeping Charlie conflates loathing of "borderline" sociopathic white supremacists with "loathing of white people".

The irritating weed also conflates progressives efforts at countering centuries of right wing racist/classist policies and propaganda, with "indoctrinated as hard left" and "hard authoritarian".

Potted plants are really dumb.....and histrionic.....and racist.
