I am sitting here... staring at my computer screen, like I normally do about this time of night..and I wonder.. why do people do the stupid shit they do?

How come everything on the net has to be about meeting?
And if you don't want to meet them (not because they aren't a great person or anything...maybe its because you just don't feel comfortable meeting someone you've only talked to THREE times)then they get all pissed off and act like children who didn't get their way.... they throw temper tantrums and guilt trips....trying to make you feel bad enough to go out on those lunch dates....

I mean what if the person(s) is/are stalker material? And why the big rush?

And then you feel bad because you think to yourself... "This might be a great person and here I am screwing myself out of a friendship that can be good for me."


How do you know when to say no?

Meet them when you feel it is right to meet them. I have met guys from the net a number of times now. Most of them are from the Military. Most I had spoken to for more than 6 months. Some wanted to meet straight away I said no. If they didnt like it..well tough. If they liked me then they waited.

im the one she wouldn't say no to... she says i'm not, but I can read between the lines. I agree, if you aren't sure then the answer is no. i sure don't want you to feel apprehensive about being with me, and you wouldn't be good company. Patience is a virtue... and I think I am pretty virtuous. Besides, the best things in life are worth waiting for....

I agree with the rest of the posters. If you feel uncomfortable in anyway, say no. If they pitch a fit after you say no, I think you made a great choice that is the true personality of your "friend" coming out. (Just my opinion, and we know about opinions!!)

I must admit, I say no! Why? Cause I'm a scaredy cat! Call it too many movies, or TV, I don't know. That and I made a pact with my parents, actually a few years ago (I'm still just 18 and they are over protective), I could play on the internet and chat online (at the time in teen sites) but could never give out personal info, talk on the phone with someone off the internet and never ever plan to meet anyone! I'm fine with it! I have met some really nice people on here, and in real life they might be just wonderful, but one never knows...As writers we all know, words can be very convincing and deceiving! As a young lady I prefer to stay safe, secure, and not put myself in a possibly bad situation.
