Why do colds make you feel worse than the flu?

I have a horrible cold. My head feel funny, I can't breathe, I'm tired, my eyes are itchy, and my ears are all clogged. Why does it feel worse than the flu where you feel like crap for a day, throw up and feel better? I've felt like crap for days, and I can't take time off from work to tuck myself into bed.

I am with you today, girl. I feel horrible today. =( My nose is al runny and my throat is swollen. =( I took some thera flu and now my nose is stuffy

Yeah I know how you feel I'm sick since last week

My cold has turn to a bronchytis tho... yuck...

Colds suck big time. Just got over one last week and I never want another one in my life. At least with the flu, you can stay in bed and sleep, not going through a miserable day that never seems to end.

exactly....next to my bed I have
Nyquil (for bedtime)
Dayquil (to try and get through work)
Halls cough drops (daytime)
Viks Vaporub (for night)
and a billion tissues

When I have the flu I sleep or I'm throwing up...end of story

And I hate sounding like I've had a 5 pack a day habit for 40 years
