I lost a close friend to schizophrenia. He started showing symptoms right after high school graduation. I'll spare you the details, but he shot and killed a sheriff's deputy and was killed later that day when the police finally decided to end the siege of his house.

The two people who know what really happened are both dead, probably from the same gun. I think shooting and firearms is a strange hobby for a boy and his mother to enjoy together.
