Why changing your screen name?..

I've seen many posters confess to a change of name... why?

I - for one - wanted to 'earn' my AV... now, once I have it, it's no big deal, lol

.. waiting for answers and still, no sign of dinner, sigh....

What I've seen lately, is that there is a lot of name/screen name changes... I was just wondering if that made you a better person/different person or what!?

People do it for different reasons. I have done it once...when I first joined lit, I had a more male name I guess. I kept getting pms from women and gay men.

Needless to say that had to go. So I changed it shortly after joining.

I unfortunately had used part of my real name. I did not do it to hide from my friends or anything,, just wanted my name off there.

I have only this one name and don't plan to ever change it. I couldn't keep track of more than one name, besides, I never say anything that I am not afraid to back up--some use multiple names just so they won't be held accountable for what they say. In the words of a country boy, that's chickensh_t!

I changed mine and kept my post counts

In order for that to happen you have to have a very good reason

Is there a rule about using one's name or part of it? If there is, what is the procedure?
