Why cater to Russia for Americans held there?

I don't get it. These Americans knew the ramifications of going to a country like Russia for personal profit. Why should we work with an ally to release a murderer for a basketball player and a businessman? This makes zero sense

I agree.

as awful as it is otherwise, America has always fought for its citizens abroad.
Even for it's worst people
That's why you guys are safe when travelling.

Just look at Australia, how they dumped Assange.

Bullshit. If Donald Trump was in office...and an American that has spoken out against him was in this situation...he would do nothing.

My problem...and should be yours...is that they want us to gain release of an asset that murdered someone for Putin...for a basketball player too fucking stupid to know that her "meds" were illegal. Or for a businessman, that probably was looking for intel to take back. Never cave to terrorists.

Hopefully no American abroad will ever need help from Ambassador Dribble.

The terrorist arms dealer guy has served 2/3 of his term or about so already I think. So while a bit strange, by pure math on paper it's not a bad deal. However awful the pal is, they would have to let him go rather soon anyways.

I'm all for a trade that gives Russia back a loyal, valuable asset. Donald Trump for both Americans.

I wasn't up to speed they actually requested the killer, by his real name no less, lol. Now it indeed becomes... interesting.

That isn't the guy Russia wants. They want a Russian asset convicted of murder in Germany. Russia's goal is to create issues between the US and Germany. If we had a real leader...we would tell Russia to release our citizens else we go in and help Ukraine.

This person bounces a fucking ball and went to a dictatorship with drugs. Fuck her.

I'm not clear on the other one.

"Go in" is the key phrase I believe you're.missing there
Exactly right. Only cowards are afraid to do the right thing because Putin might escalate the war to nuclear....which we would retaliate by wiping Russia off the planet. So if you aren't willing to fight Fascism and tyranny...why even bother? When is it right to fight? We seem to have no problem if it was the middle east...or Afghanistan...what's the difference?

^^^ Which would of course end life on Earth.

But hey, that might be OK.

If humans are unwilling to prevent future wars by fighting today...are we worthy of this planet? By allowing Putin to be Putin all we are doing is kicking the can down the road

Both were in Russia for personal gain.

He has been accused by Russia of selling secrets. Possible. He says he is innocent. Also possible. But what we do know, he wouldn't be where he is if he chose to make his millions in the US. But then, maybe he couldn't cause it is illegal? I just don't see him as worthy of creating future issues
