the recognised word for a homosexual.

In the past I've used words like "poof", "queer", "faggot" and "shirtlifter".

Then I complied with what the gay community wanted and started using "gay". But I've never felt comfortable with it.

It has always seemed to me that "gays" are ashamed of their own sexuality and have to dress it up in a word which has no relation to its original meaning.

Homosexuality is a fact. We ain't going to change it no matter how it's dressed up and presented to the world. So what wrong with 'homosexual'?

It's truthful.

It's dignified.

And its meaning is abundantly clear.

it's a dignified term until a devout Minister or what have you gets a hold of it.

I love hearing British people say "puff" (or "poof" as p_p_man spelled it).

:D

(I also think an English accent sounds hilarious when combined with the word "twat".)

Anybody seen the movie Billy Elliot?

I heard a preacher on the radio refer to them as "Homersexuals" and my first thought was "Hey! When did they start handing out sexualties based on The Simpsons!"
