Why can't authors delete their own stories?

I have tried to delete a story back on September 12th. After 3 weeks, people were recommending I start over, and that my delete request was in the Bermuda Triathlon or something. Another poster said to send a direct message or email to those responsible to let them know I have an issue. So, I eventually tried both. Then after that fell on deaf ears or blind eyes, I tried a 3rd time. Some authors said their stories were being posted within a day, so what did I have to lose?. It still is pending since mid-October. I do not, at this point have any hope in the present system.

The Authors could take that chore off of the staff's plate by given us permission to remove their own content. It would seem like a win-win for all those concerned. 🤷‍♂️

Why are you asking us? We authors don't control the policy, either. I doubt that @Laurel will be answering (but that was an attempt to get her attention.

I’m confused. Are you trying to delete a story or post a new one? Or to post an edit to an existing one?

I have done this, 3 times.
You probably hit the great submission black hole of 2025. I appreciate it must be very frustrating. I had a submission caught as well.

I suspect that deletions and edits have gone way down the priority list.
