Why aren't the personals (at a minimum) already broken down by country?

Seriously! It ticks me off reading a post, thinking the person is interesting, and THEN finding out (usually days later) that they're in another country on the literal other side of the world. It should be broken down into two main categories. Those wanting an online only relationship, and those wanting a RL / in-person one. Then by country after that. Granted, you'd need to break down the bigger countries into at least smaller regions. But it can't be that hard! Heck, I'll volunteer to set it up. And I'll be happy to delete the posts of people who can't be bothered to follow directions too. Ugh. Trying to find a good match is nearly impossible as it is. WHY make it harder?!

I think this is a great idea, particularly as someone who prefers a bit more structure and order to things. Plus, it’s a huge waste of time trawling through messages, finding something of interest and then giving up because the location or requirement doesn’t align.
I suspect it’s partly a question of the time to organise threads in such a way, so perhaps speak to one of the Mods, see if they would be agreeable. I know I’d vote for it if given the choice.

Exactly my point. I was also hoping a lot of people might agree and that would catch the mods attention. Personally, I'd just lock this section to new posts / comments and start with the new restructured one with all new posts where they belong to start with. Especially seeing as not all posts have enough info in them to be moved.

Completely agree! Have often been discouraged by the distance issues since it was not apparent when first messages were exchanged. This would make it much easier

I'll offer a different view..

I've never understood why so many ads list or require specific locations.

Are there really that many people using this forum to arrange real life encounters? I would assume the vast majority are only interested in online interactions.

I agree that it could be useful to be able to filter out the ones we're not interested in though :)

Lit has an area broken down by foreign languages. Taking a lead from that section for personals could be useful. Just my 2p
Now that would be a terrible setup. If you don't care where someone is located, you'd suddenly have to scan all the sections

Fair point, well made!

Yeah people struggle to post personals in the correct place at the best of times, I wouldn't add more complexity

I put my countries flag in my profile, if others did the same it would be at least a starting point
