Why are you here?

Dude, speak for yourself. It took two doctors and four nurses to talk me into a tetanus shot. I refuse to get anything that doesn't require two doctors and a nurse to talk me into it.

You gotta out stubborn me to get needles into me.

Ya big baby... I had 3 in about 6 months a few years ago. Fell off my horse, cut myself, then broke a wrist. For some reason, they watch me walk into an ER and just get the needle ready without bothering to ask if I've already had one. And of course, stupid me, I'm usually not exactly focused on what they're doing when they shoot me up. I ask "was that for pain?" they say "no, tetanus", then I have to tell them they've wasted their time, and REALLY annoyed me.

I know. I'm a wuss. I haven't had one since I was, like, 7. They said 'when did you last have a tetanus shot?' and I said 'uh' and they said 'you need one, then', and I was like 'um, i didn't cut myself on a rusty nail'.

They insisted. Sent several nurses and a doctor in to bully me in to it. It was the nice one who explained the needle isn't very big and stuff like that who talked me into it.

If you're a horse person, though, it's good that you had them. Horses are big-time disease vectors for tetanus. Says the lifelong horse person who hasn't had a booster since 1999. Bad Bunny!

Just some Monday morning musings…

1. What brought you to Lit and specifically to this forum? (If you say “the Internet” I will be forced to smack you)
2. How long did you lurk?
3. Why did you stop lurking?
4. What has kept you here?
5. General Lit thoughts?

1. I read stories on Lit for probably 2 or 3 years found the forum about 2 years in.

2. Lurked here on the board on and off for probably a year.

3. I decided I had something to say worth while. lol. I don't comment much because unless I feel I can make an intelligent contributory comment then it would be worthless. This is really the only online forum I participate in and still a little tentative, most people on here seem to have such an easy flow with intelligent rapport that it is intimidating.

4. The open knowledge of the members. Most people seem to have a "real" understanding and openness to all aspects of BDSM.

5. I like the way everything is organized here. lol. I understand logical organization structures much easier. Fetlife drives me crazy. Too hard to sift thought the sh*t.

Agreed! I've only been there once but holy cow was it hard to navigate and so many threads, hard to read, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I like simple.

I used to have an incredible fear of needles (I would cry every single time I saw the nurse bring em in on the tray), but after going through some health shenanigans and getting lab work done many times in the past year, I HAD to get over it. So what did was donate blood at every opportunity, and now the idea doesn't bother me at ALL. (Though I still don't like to look when they stick me.)

As for being on-topic:

1. I'd stumbled upon the site in years past in my search for some light reading, but I didn't know there was a forum.
2. For maybe a week or two. :p
3. Cause I had stupid questions to ask!
4. Intelligent/mature discussions, and the sense of camaraderie.
5. Uhm... Lit's awesome? Also, snowball's chance in hell that I'll ever rack up 10K posts. Though I guess if I stick around long enough, it'll happen eventually...

I did, too. Now I can give blood and sleep through it (been there, done that), but I can't deal with shots going IN my muscle. It's just wrong.

Solution...strict (and somewhat stubborn) bondage and a lewd (ass in the air) position. Oh, and if necessary, a nice cookie flavored gag.

Good, glad to hear it.

I may not be an ass but I've been told I have a nice one. :D
Everybody has an opinion. The proof is in the visual. I'm from Missouri, the "Show-Me" state. The use of the unofficial nickname the Show-Me State has several possible origins. One favorite means I'm skeptical of the matter and not easily convinced. So, prove it to me. :D

Bare it, woman and bend over. I'm sure somebody can whip up a way we can all vote.

You're too late, DVS, but she *does* have a nice ass. :D

Yeah, they don't do that anymore in emergency rooms.

*sighs*

Pardon me while I break out into song...

"How do solve a problem like the Yankster?
How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means midwestyankee?
A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the wisp! A clown!"

This gave me my best laugh of the day. Possibly even of my year.
I raise my glass to you, Keroin. In absolute awe.

Awww, LB, I'm sending you a crate of maple syrup and a crate of toques!

:rose:

(And if you liked that, you should check out my "ass" thread!)

1. What brought you to Lit and specifically to this forum? (If you say “the Internet” I will be forced to smack you)

I've always enjoyed a good erotic story and stumbled across Lit many years ago while searching for erotica. I initially started by reading the stories, then decided to have a look around the forums. The BDSM forum was the place I felt most at home and less like an amoral pervert!

2. How long did you lurk?

Almost three years. I'm a slow starter :)

3. Why did you stop lurking?

Because it was time to stop kidding myself and learn more about the side I tried to repress to please other people. I'd been reading discussions for 3 years and everyone seemed friendly and helpful to people who were serious about exploring their kinks and not just looking for a cheap thrill. The rest, as they say, is history.

4. What has kept you here?

People I've become friends with; informative and intelligent discussion. I don't post as much as I used to, mainly because of time constraints and how busy life has become. I'm more of a lurker again.

5. General Lit thoughts?

I'll always have a soft spot for Lit and the people on the forum. As I said, the people are friendly, the discussions are intelligent, witty and informative but the main reason I'll always have a soft spot for Lit is because it's where I met my PYL. We were friends on here for a long time before we became a RL couple and he is my world :) Not a day goes by when I don't think about how lucky I am to have him in my life...and it's thanks to Lit.

Why am I here?

1. What brought you to Lit and specifically to this forum? (If you say “the Internet” I will be forced to smack you)
I discovered Literotica some years ago, while cruising around for some erotica to read

2. How long did you lurk?
I still lurk a good bit...I'm shy

3. Why did you stop lurking?
I like answering surveys, since they make me think. This one makes me think about why I'm here, what interests me, what I might want

4. What has kept you here?
I've always liked the tone here, of acceptance, and of intelligence. It draws me back when I start feeling the pull again to explore my BDSM interest (fantasies).

A friend recommended the site for the erotic literature. I gravitated to this forum because I'm kinky:) I only lurked long enough to know my way around the board. I keep coming back because I like to be around people who think like me. It's nice to know this place and these people are always here.

1. What brought you to Lit and specifically to this forum? What brought me to lit was some seedy website that had a limited selection of stories and I liked reading them but being 19 at the time, didn't want to pay for. Websurfing eventually led me here and I've been reading ever since. Around 21-22 I was noticing that the things I liked and the things I read were meshing and led me to start exploring what BDSM (specifically D/s) was about. While I have no one yet to share and experiment with its just a matter of finding the right person that wants to find out more about their self as well as myself.

2. How long did you lurk? The forum specifically a couple of days, but as mentioned above about three to four years.

3. Why did you stop lurking?
I stopped lurking when I published my first story. I've also been posting in internet forums since thirteen and was looking for a new spot to post with others and it kind of all fell into what I'm doing now.

4. What has kept you here?
What's keeping me here so far is the (overall) maturity. Most forums don't regulate, to a point, who and what age are allowed and the overall quality suffers because of it. That and I posted just recently one of my personal philosophies, "not a day should go by that we aren't doing, trying, or learning something new."

5. General Lit thoughts? I'll be around at least a couple of years, hopefully I'll add to the forum, and take my fare share away as well.
