Why are women friendlier to guys who are from out of town?

I was in Philly this weekend for a wedding. I traveled with three buddies of mine and while we tooled around the city we noticed that all the women became exceptionally friendly when they found out we were from out of town.

Yeah, they teased us about our "Chicago" accents and our inability to manuver through those crazy colonial streets, but on the whole it was a very warm reception. We had women we'd just met calling our hotel room asking when we were coming out. Waitresses gave us free food. I've got a pocket full of phone #'s of girls I'll probably never call.

And it's like that whenever I travel. East coast, west coast, down south, out of the country; women like foriegners. This is worth an experiment. I think I'll adopt a bogus accent and see how many women around my home town give me a different vibe (not to say that Chicago women aren't nice, of course. ;) )

And that's probably the reason why...

Because the chance of seeing you after a bad lay is so slim.

I dont know what it is...but i use it to my full advantage when i go to visit my friends at their schools. Hell, even being from 2 hours away with a wicked Boston accent does alot. :D

Exotic stranger factor...

You think it works being from out of town, try being from out of country. Or even better, out of country, language, and ethnicity.

It works for women too. Men will chase down the exotic foreign beauty over the local tried and true. Something I learned living in Asia and talking to those who'd lived in Europe.

Best way to increase your love life is to go somewhere you will stand out as an exotic foreigner.

Fresh Meat

You don't know them. You haven't dated their pals. You haven't heard about the cucumber incident in 10th grade. You're like a virgin with a new accent.

I used to call it The Exchange Student Factor when I was in school.

On soap operas it's the Mysterious Drifter Factor....the silent loner new to Bay City who always turns out to have been "wrongfully accused" in the mysterious death of his wife in the other city.

In a port city like mine, women still go to the docks and hit the bars when the Nato Fleet hits town.

Us cute ones do tend to travel in packs. I guess that stacks the odds in our favor. ;)

My current theory about Philly is that the women are so sick of dealing with the same old type of guys, something different is a breath of fresh air.

For example: While out on the steet we saw a couple on thier way to a party. The woman was wearing high heeled boots, a gorgeous dress, long fur coat, her afro blown out like an old school Pam Grier. Her date was wearing a sweat suit and a baseball cap. That was his idea of dressing up. And damn near every couple we saw was like that. No suprise that she eyeballed us so hard as we walked past. :D

Damn out-of-towners askin' me for directions and such. What do I look like, a map?

Ya know, I've never noticed that phenomenon, maybe I should pay more attention. As much as I love a man who rocks the sweats, there is a time and a place, and when I'm dressed like a pimpette is not one of 'em. Tell 'em!
