Why are Islamic terrorists so willing to commit suicide?

Honestly? A lot of people chalk it up to the 72 virgins thing, but that's highly arguable. I think what most sells them on dying for Allah, aside from being absolutely convinced of the righteousness of their cause, is the promise that they're simultaneously buying a ticket to paradise for their loved ones.

Edited to add: Also, the promise of all the things they're supposed to deny themselves in this life are waiting for them in eternity: the sweetest wine, sexual enjoyment, etc. Islamic paradise (not entirely unlike the heaven of Christianity) is a place of enlightenment and pleasure.

No.

Its socially esteemed suicide for Muslim losers.

In case anybody is interested in any evidence about this - there have been a number of books about the phenomenon of suicide bombing. Robert Pape of the University of Chicago maintains a database of suicide bombings, and wrote a book in 2005 which broadly concluded there is 'little connection between suicide terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism, or any one of the world’s religions... . Rather, what nearly all suicide terrorist attacks have in common is a specific secular and strategic goal: to compel modern democracies to withdraw military forces from territory that the terrorists consider to be their homeland.'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Pape

His methodology has however had some critics. Still there's another database in Flinders Australia whose data seem to lead to similar conclusions:

'The evidence from the database largely discredits the common wisdom that the personality of suicide bombers and their religion are the principal cause. It shows that though religion can play a vital role in recruiting and motivating potential future suicide bombers, the driving force is not religion but a cocktail of motivations including politics, humiliation, revenge, retaliation and altruism. The configuration of these motivations is related to the specific circumstances of the political conflict behind the rise of suicide attacks in different countries.' (2009)

Naaah. Its all about socially acceptable suicide. The meaning of any action is its outcome.

That begs this question: other countries outside othe Islamofascist world have been "occupied." How many of their citizens routinely blew themselves up to murder innocent men, women, and childen?

Blame Israel, blame the US, blah, blah, blah. These people are barbarians.

Honestly?

I'll take the Druidic, Irish heaven of Magh Meall. They have free beer and hot nymphs to serve it (and you).

I don't mind if anyone, especially a terrorist commits suicide, it's the other people they take with them that pisses me off.

Dude!

You disgust me!

You left out the most important part!

You know the 40 virgins (to go along with the 30 pieces of silver, one presumes)? Well those aren't iSlammer virgins! No! Allah won't cotton that shit up in Mohammadville. Hell no! Thems cute little White Russian virgins! Or cute Hawaiian virgins... or perhaps hot New Orleans mixed-blood virgins. Never Fatima and her butt-worms!

Please keep their story straight.

Thank you.

:D

I'm curious as to how they managed to interview the suicide bombers to find this out.
I mean, you can't really give a full reason as to why you're a suicide bomber till after you've actually been one...
