People are what they are. The threads aren't going to have any impact on their behavior and are a waste of energy. Your time is better spent on the posting porn.

Porn is good. Racism is bad. Pornless threads are ugly.

I am, of course, humbly sorry for my stupidity, and will never attempt to use the words "rational, principled, and decent" in connection with you again, LT. I realize how offensive and silly that was of me.

Hmmm. I'll give you even odds on that. I'm more expecting a wave of links indicating that LT is demonstrably and absolutely supported in various things because no one in the AH ever posted to tell him that he wasn't. He's already established elsewhere that a lack of response indicates mass approval.

In other forums they have a collective zero tolerance (or as close to it as one can imagine) policy towards threats and racial slurs.

One can go there and reasonably expect civility.

This is why BlackShanglan's prediction will utterly fail.

I have a lot more tolerance toward threats and racial slurs than I used to. I've also learned not to dismiss an entire person because of racism or stupidity or otherwise. Because there's more to people than one aspect of their ignorance.

Threats and racial slurs mean very little compared to actual, real world suffering and pain. this is a tend to hang out with those who do make that distinction.

The ones who insist upon constant perfection and civility are the people I grew up with. The tribal habit of clapping their hands to their ears and shrieking "LALALALALA" when something ugly happens isn't something I carried forward with me.

I will deal with it head on, person by person, issue by issue, and that's who I am.

I do dismiss an entire person for that. I can afford to. I have plenty of better people in my life that I don't need to accept a personality flaw of that magnitude.
