Why are gas prices going down?

Nope.

Part of the cycle. Note that Iraq has an embargo on, but the other oil producers are putting out enough that it had no bearing on the market, which it was intended to do.

Now, if Bush, Blair, Putin, Zhiang, whomever, does not get a grip on the middle east, you could soon see jihad and a tremendous spike in the price of oil.

But your point may be that the threat of drilling will help keep the market in line, which is a good point.

But I think it is just coinciental at this point.

Then again, I'm mad, I've always been mad...

Do you think Bush should get some credit for this?

Well, yes, if you consider what direction Weird Al Gore would have taken us over the past 6 months.

NO

No why would you give Bush Credit for it, it is because the world price came down. Gas prices are going down all over not just in the USA

Well I blamed Clinton for them going up and Bush for them going down, isn't that the American way! lol

That's right!

It was the release of them strategic reserves finally hitting the market!

The president always gets the blame, always takes the credit, OPEC takes the profits, and we the people take the...

Just the seasonal fluctuation.
With the warm weather, people aren't using fuel for heating. So theirs less demmand, but the same number of suppliers chasing fewer orders.
As soon as Autumn comes, and everyone starts ordering their Winter supplies the price will start climbing again

I actually thought that consumption was up during the summer. Can anyone confirm that.

Well actually it depends on how hot a summer you have to determine if the usage of it is down

What are you paying now where you are?

I'm not getting into who gets blame other than I think that its really funny that every station across town raises and lowers on the same day.

But I filled up this morning for $1.199/gallon !!!!!

I havn't seen prices this low in a couple of years. Not complaining, just wonder if the gas companies have already made so much profit they decided to give us a small break before they stick it to us again.

Well I wish my gas was that cheap. I paid 76.4 cents a liter and there are 4 liters in a gallon.

the price of the gas is directly connected to usage,, summer prices are unusually high because of the demand for vacations and holiday trips

the gas is held in a storage tank and already paid for,, price is like the stock market,, it goes up or down for the same already paid for gas, depending on demand,, the more gas they sold the more they have to pay for replacement gase,, the station pays one price per gallon,, yet the consumer could pay several different prices,,

How can the president have influence,,only time that has ever been a direct influence was when retail prices were frozen,, again at one persons profit,, another's loss

a few pennies variance we can live with,, but 15 or 20 cents,, a bit much?

it's around 1.50 a gallon here.... about 4 years ago it was .80 a gallon...

boy am i glad i only have to worry about gas 3 months out of the year

Bluenose

i am paying 66.4 per liter here now.
cheapest it has been for a long, long time.

i thought it was 5 liters in a U.S. gallon but you may be right with 4liters. either way it is still expensive.
