I've already said I'll respect individuals who earn my respect but presumption of respect? Nope, police have forfeited that.

Cooperate? Sure. Wanna see my id? Here ya go. Stand over there? sure. Stop filming my partner beating the shit out of a nig..err, "thug"? Go fuck yourself.

It doesn't work that way. You don't have the option of obeying (respecting) a cop if we want to live in a civilized society. But keep in mind that I agree with the idea of police reform. We need smarter cops. Maybe we need a change in attitude. But cops still have to be the authority on the street.
I don't think the cops in Atlanta ever behaved in a way that didn't require respect from a normal citizen. The citizen initiated the confrontation when it was completely unnecessary. He was an extremely violent person.

That's nice. I saw no evidence that a fleeing suspect presented a clear and present danger to the officers. Their use of deadly force was not justified. I admit this is Monday Morning Quarterbacking, but too many cops have a "shoot first" mentality.

His actions were extremely violent. Don't you think so? I don't believe you think he behaved reasonably. I think we can debate over whether deadly force was appropriate. Do you think there was reasonable suspicion of a crime? I do. I think driving under the influence is a serious offense. Do you? Do you think we should re-evaluate driving under the influence? I don't know. Our roads are dangerous enough as it is.

Shooting a fleeing subject is bad. How do you justify that? It appeared that the immediate danger had passed. If they shot the guy during the fight, I don't think there would be any argument. Do you no if he actually got that cop with the taser? I can't tell if it even deployed when he pointed it.
Since we're Monday Morning Quarterbacking, what was the alternative? Continue to pursue and engage? Let him go and pick him up later? You got his car. You know who he is and where he lives. I say grab him up later. Maybe he would be less belilgerent when sober.
