now me personally i enjoy reading about incest for some reason its damn entertaining. i also enjoy role playing with older woman doing the whole son/mother thing. in real life however i have absolute no sexual feelings bout the females in my family, even though they are very beautiful and if we dident share blood i would be very attracted to them. there was many a time when i saw my mum and sisters in various stages of undress, sometimes even fully naked. yet never had i thought about them sexually. mebe this was because i became sexualy active at a very young age or something, so heres the question why the massive about of stories about it?

Maybe it has something to do with being very seldom come across in a real life situation. While the idea of Incest sounds hot, I honestly wouldn't touch my family's genitals. Even the sexy ones.

So, people who can't vent their sexual urges against their children/parents/cousins/nephews ect, they CAN vent it through false fantasies. And the way I see it, stories write better when you feel for the experience....

the curiosity about the popularity of this sub-genre.

I've thought maybe it's because the taboo is such a strong one that someone who has at one time had such a fantasy has felt obliged to repress it strongly, and this has required a lot of psychic energy, so that when the person does find an acceptable outlet for the fantasies here, the interest is correspondingly intense.

But this is probably just so much intellectual b.s.

Here's another theory: Within families, in addition to family love, there is always a certain amount of resentment. So screwing the family member in question becomes a way of, well, screwing them, i.e., coming out on top in the end.

I think the reason why incest porn is so popular is due to the fact that it is so taboo and far out there that even though most people who are writing and/or reading them might not want to engage in it with their own family, its something that comes across as being really hot when someone else is doing it with their's. So reading about someone getting it on with a parent, sibling or son/daughter isn't necessarily something want to engage in any more so than they would want to engage in tentacle porn... yet that's a hugely popular theme with hentai.

Its the idea of it being so wrong that as an observer, you're drawn in and want to see where it goes and just how far the characters go and how they will deal with the consequences of their actions or reactions of friends & family who discover it. Even a poorly written incest story has a chance of being fascinated if for no other reason than its just one more perspective on a topic most people outwardly recoil in disgust from because no one wants to admit to anyone else that they find such stories intriguing for fear they'll be labeled or at least suspected of harboring desires to act it out.

I've written a couple such stories myself and find myself even as a writer looking at the scenarios I paint the characters into and wondering how I can move the story along in both an interesting and believable way. Having read many of the incest stories posted here at Literotica, I've noticed that some people take the easy way out... with participant characters being equally interested and diving right into the action with seemingly the most forced dialogue between them being accepted as perfectly natural. I don't mean to sound like I'm criticizing though since such writing situations are equally valid as those with reluctant characters or those who really go out of their way to rationalize the very unlikely behavior. Also, not everyone is good with making realistic sounding dialogue.

That's how I see it, anyhow.

I'll just write out some explanations that come to mind, ranked from most to least flattering to incest fans:

-Incest shakes up the conventional romantic dynamic. If you're writing a long sex romp with a lot of different characters, having some of them be related provides a lot of variety, so that you're not always dealing with lovers or casual sex partners. Similarly, for an author who writes a lot, or a reader who reads a lot, incest is a change from the status quo. (Although the sheer number of incest stories out there makes me question this.)

-If you're into incest there really isn't a lot of it in live action or drawn pornography. (Yeah, I know, hentai, but not to the extent you see here on Lit or other sites.) Since text is the only medium with a lot of incestual situations, it seems disproportionate compared to more common interests.

-The whole Freudian thing. People want to release their suppresed incestual desires through displaced fantasy scenarios. Yada yada yada.

-It's safe to say that a substantial amount of sex story writers are not exactly Casanovas. (Obviously not everyone, or even a majority, of course.) For a nerdy undersexed smut reader/writer, their strongest relationship to members of the opposite sex is probably familial. So stories about incest seem more personal and intimate. Whether or not you're experienced romantically, everyone has parents, and most siblings. So stories about families, even in a sexual context, are in a way universal.

I'm an occasional but not avid reader of incest stories, so I may be completely off the mark here. But I think these are some of the reasons why you see such huge numbers in the incest category.

In for-profit published erotica world you don't really see that much incest. Most sex publishers are explicitly uninterested in it. Is it about morals or money? Makes you wonder whether it would actually make money in book form, sitting on a shelf in some chain. I dont know what this site will actually post and what it won't. I will tell you though that a friend of mine told me she found several stories with underage persons that snuck past someone and asked that they be removed. I would imagine (based off of what she stated) that there are necrophilia stories here as well if you look hard enough.

And really, you could get pretty close to it if you do nonconsent with a person in a vegetative state.

Beastiality is taboo, but --unless I am mistaken-- such stories are not permitted at Lit (fantasy critters excepted, of course). So its entirely possible that if beastiality stories were allowed that they could be rampantly popular also. There's a whole world of "furries" out there who write about sex with anthropomorphized beasties to sate their own fantasies and share their love of the unnatural with like-minded individuals.
