So.... some how my last thread turned into a Doctor Who discussion (not that I'm complaining) - but... it was supposed to be a personal ad ;)

So here I am, putting out a thread for all Whovians to gather!

Where are you from? Male or Female? Favourite Doctor? When did you get into Who? Which companion would you sleep with? Thoughts on the 50th Anniversary Episode

And, to keep things interesting: What sort of underwear do you have on?

I guess I should start:

Toronto, Ont. Canada
Male
4th (Tom Baker), all the way. I grew up watching him....
Parents are brits and my mother is a big Sci-fi nut (so is my dad... but never knew that growing up). So, sunday mornings on TVO, used to watch 2 episodes of Who.
Ummmm - Besides Captain Jack? (because, who wouldn't?)..... Martha Jones.... maybe Penny....

Black Boxers.....

I guess I will go second

Land O' Lakes FL

Male last time I checked

4th here as well because he had some of the best writing and that scarf....
My mom used to watch Doctor Who with me when I was two and I wolfed it down. I became an addict and I have been watching it ever since.

I would sleep with quite a lot of the companions, though if I had to choose just one it would probably be Clara, she just has an appeal to her I have not seen in ages.

I thought the fiftieth was great, not on the level of my favorite serial but excellent. It would have been better if 9 had gotten on board and probably if the Zygons were not so contrived. Now however I am wondering how the insane Time Lords and specifically Rassilon (from The End Of Time) will tie in with 12.

Blue Boxer Briefs with a bit of a stain from some tea I accidentally spilled a little bit ago.

I was wondering that myself.... Especially if the Master is now locked up with them...

It also leaves the big question in the air....

what happens after Capaldi...

England - makes me almost a Time Lord
Fav Doc - Chris Eccelstone I think, had a bit more gravitas about him. They all grow on you after a while.
Fav assistant- Louise Colman (however you spell it) especially after I saw showing off her lovely breasts on a DailyMotion vid.
Saw an old episode from the 8o's, I think, featuring a girl called Tegan - she was really hot .

The anniversary episode? -Good but I thought following the build up that the John Hurt Doc was going to be much darker.

No Underwear - I'm a Time Lord, don't need them...

Considering that John Hurt is one of my favourite actors of all time, it's not much of stretch to say this:

I would love to see a spin off, just with what lead The War Doctor to that final decision and final declaration.

Huh, look at that, they are counting the Tennant thing.... interesting....

I like it... I just hope it's dealt with well (and they seem to be handling things well so far).

Of course, with what happened in the 50th, that whole Sons of Gallifrey makes a bit more sense...

I'll throw my Fez into the ring.

Australia
Male
10 until the end of all things! The only man I would turn gay for in or out of character
First Who I ever saw was in the late eighties when 7th was behind the console. They treated it like it was a kids show here and showed it at five in the afternoon between cartoons.
The 'Who would you sleep with' is a hard one. A lot of them hgave their strengths.
Early Sara Jane cause she was just spunky
Rose for the tits
Amy for the legs
But I'd have to say Clara above them all because she is fun, sassy and the first truly capable one since the reboot. She isn't winey like Rose, stuck-up like Martha, a loudmouth superbitch like Donna or a nutcase like Amy.

And the 50th was amazing. Not as good as 'End Of Time' but very very solid. The lack of 9 was no great loss so he can go and be a big dick if he wants and refuse to take part.

I think there would be a market for a mini-series about the Time War with the War Doctor. Two or three two hour long episodes, dealing with the War and some of its bigger battles. I for one want to see 'The Nightmare Child' munch Davros's command ship.

Bring on Christmas... I think Capaldi is going to make a perfect Doctor.

How many missing episodes are the BBC sitting on I wonder?

50th was good, had a different feel to it to other episodes.

Assistants I'd do, Zoe Herriot, Jo Grant, Sarah Jane, Tegan Jovanka, Peri, Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Clara Oswin :)

Capaldi should be excellent.

Wearing black trunks

So, Christmas is over and we lost Matt Smith.
I have to say, his speech at the end made me lose it... I will fully admit, I was crying at it.

I do, however, think that revealing that a new Doctor was coming was a bit of a mistake. I know they're always excited for someone new to join the family... but imagine the 50th without Capaldi. Then having Matt Smith (and Moffat) reveal that Smith is, in fact, the 13th. Fans would lose their mind, thinking that it was the end, until you have Clara do her thing, and we see Capaldi.....

I think that would have been a bit more dramatic, and hard on the Whovian's nerves....

I missed the 50th! I am so upset about this. I thought I had recorded it, but its not there. Now I'm going to have to catch a rerun. :(

I currently have it on my PVR.. because I knew I'd want to watch it again. I'd offer to share :)
However, you could also probably just downloaded (which I'm ok with, since it isn't available commercially at the moment)

And Capaldi may have gotten to wear his clothes.......

But not his bowtie

As for revealing Capaldi during the 50th I agree but then again I dont know if I want to loose the feeling I had when I saw his eyes wasnt expecting it so I screamed in the movie theater along with every one else. Pretty amazing........

A doctor who thread! Whooooooooooo

I guess my post should have some thing more than me just wigging out so let start with favorite doctor......

Matt Smith without a doubt not only is he a fantastic actor but the eleventh hour is what turned me from merely liking doctor who to being a whovian (I started the series with chris Ecc). I like what clara said in the 50th that Matt Smith was the most doctor of them all. Christopher Eccelston was a war veteran going through PTSD and then when he regenerated into David Tennant he kind of become more interested in heroics. That was cool and all but to me I guess Matt Smith was the only one who ever really embodied what I thought the doctor was meant to be.

Hmm the companion I would sleep with the most definitely going to have to go with Amy and thats really it (I havent seen the old series so im limited)

Underwear i'm wearing: none

While that was cool, I geeked harder for Tom Baker at the end...

My friends were pretending not to know me ;)

Yeah, I think the taking off of the bow-tie was the right thing to do. It was the signature of Smith... and would have felt wrong for the new guy to wear it.

While we may never get a spin off I think a book would be pretty cool or maybe even a audio serial

I did really love his speech...... I will always remember the time I was the doctor

And since I am a huge amy and rory fan when she came back I literally cried

See I didnt watch the old series yet so it was a bit lost to me though when they all showed up you could barely hear the movie over all the screaming

Well, it was a bit more than that...

The "curator" at the end, who had that weird little speech and told him "Gallefry Falls No More" - was Tom Baker. The scene at the end with all of them was awesome... but seeing Tom Baker in all his mad glory talking with Mat Smith was... well, what made it for me.

But I grew up with him, he was my first Doctor

Pfffft what is a higher education compared to Whovian pursuits ;)

There's a lot of older stuff to go through, some amazing, some... so horribly cheesey...

It's just good to see you at least know about the old stuff. We ran into some people at the 50th who didn't know who all the guys standing with Smith and Tenant were... I wanted to slap them....

well my friend who originally turned me on to doctor who is in love in love with the show and has seen every thing he could possibly have so my old who knowledge is from him. I have seen some of the classic who on netflix but it is annoying to watch episodes out of place and missing most of the season

I have heard some it horribly cheesy but I'd till love to watch more who though I admit I didnt love love doctor who until Matt Smith so I dont know what going to happen now that he is gone.

Its not that I never didnt like the show I was just never in love with it until eleventh hour but then Matt Smiths theme plays (probably the best theme I have ever heard and also my most played thing on I tunes) and he says "im the doctor basically run" I was like I am sold!

Worst Companion?

I always have lots of questions for my fellow whovians so I thought I would put one out there

Who is the worst companion?

For me it is without a doubt Rose for so many reason

1. She is annoying
2. She is whiny
3. She is very ANNOYING
4. She basically stalks and harasses David Tennant doctor

I never understand why people think they were both in love sure Rose is in love with the doctor (to in love) but I think its pretty clear that its not reciprocated there are so many lines when she tries to ask the doctor if he would be some thing more with her and he clearly doesn't want that at all.

So, for above - Most Doctors tell their companions to run... Hell, I think it's Eccelston's first words.... Being a companion is basically a marathon...

So... about companions.... Most of the early companions (and I mean main females) - were pretty much on screen to scream and run. And, arguably, look pretty. It really wasn't until Sarah Jane Smith that we really saw a companion do more. Sarah Jane was probably the best of the early companions.

I'm not fond of Rose. But, she was the first companion that we got really involved in (AFAIK). We knew her boyfriend, we knew her mom, we knew where she lived and went to visit on a semi-regular basis. We saw the heart break as she saved and then lost her dad again.

And... as much as some people tried to ignore it, the Doctor did actually love her. That's why he sent the Human Doctor with her at the end. The problem is (and it's said very well by... crap, can't remember) - to the Doctor, we're all ghosts. Eventually, we all die... and he keeps going. That's why he always lets his companions go... he can't take losing all those he loves. So, he lets them go at the perfect time... at the height of their time with him... so he'll remember how perfect they were.

But, Ten got to do something no Doctor ever could... He got to have it all - have a relationship and grow old with Rose.
