I don't think I'm depressed exactly, well, maybe mildly, more just feeling a little moody and off lately for some reason, so I was thinking of trying it. I definitely don't think I need to see a doctor, and I will not take anti-depressents for a few reasons, but I've heard good things about SJW.

Who's tried it? Did it work or not, and did you have any side effects?

I've tried it and it didn't work for me.
I have a friend who takes two every day and says they're wonderful. I should add that said friend rolls and has likely fried a large portion of his saratonin (sp?) producing brain cells.
My mother takes it infrequently but says it helps to get her through rough spots.

As far as I know neither of us have had side effects.. well, there is that third eye my friend grew but with all the chemicals floating around his bloodstream you can't blame it on the St. Johns.

haven't taken it personally slutmouth, but a good friend takes it daily.....she says it works wonderfully, and from what i have seen it has improved her mood at work.....she is less likely to fly off the handle, as we have a very high stress job, we both work in operating rooms........as far as side affects she says she has suffered no ill affects.....

just a bit of advice you should talk to your doctor before taking anything, even herbal remedies as they can react with medications you may be taking......at least consult your pharmacist anyway he can give you some advice and information on St.John's Wart

LOL @ Never. Your friend rolls? That's just stupid. Sure, E will make you feel pretty damn good for a while, but then you spend the rest of your life feeling like shit because of it. Not worth it. I tried it once and liked it but I know it's not worth the risks.

AW I'm not taking any other drugs besides the Pill. I've read SJW can interefere with that so I would talk to my doc about it. I would anyway though...I hate how some people don't treat herbs like real drugs. Where do they think a lot of other drugs come from?

I used it fopr two years. Was good. Helped me through some rough spots. Maybe just the taking it was enough to remind me I needed to control a bit more. For whatever reason it was, iot worked.
But.... as stated above. Consult your doctor. And... know that if you are on the pill, birth control that is, St. John's Wort can dimish it's effect. Not sure why but that was why I quit taking it.
Switched to a Natural B complex instead. Works good too. Though I only take one when I feel my mood shifting to the edge. Also helps when you have a bit of lack of sleep. Helps perk you up a bit.

Going to state it again though. Talk to a doctor. Preferably one who knows about herbs and vitamins and such. They are a drug, period. And be very careful of your source. Old vitamins and herbs and such are not as effective as new. Just like drugs they have a shelf life.

Okay, and color me ignorant, again... but what do you mean by rolls? I take it you don't mean marijuana?

:) :) cool, hope things get better......warm tight hug.......chin up girl

Another way to improve your mood is exercise. It works wonders for me. I get that endorphin kick and I feel much better when I exercise daily.

PS if you need someone to talk with feel free to email me. I will keep it in the vault. I gotta go see the doc now but will be back later if you need to chatter.

I've taken it before. Just bought some yesterday. You have to take it for a couple weeks to see any results.

Writerdom, hope you aren't on the pill. As a couple of us stated, it can interfere....

"Rolls" referes to taking Ecstacy, or MDMA. It's mostly a rave drug, makes you more sensitive to touch, evokes feelings of empathy and closeness, good stuff like that. I think it's a failed antidepressant, but I could be wrong. The stuff used to be prescription, I think too.

The bad news is it makes your heart race, your body temp skyrocket, and fries neurotransmitters. Like I said, I tried it once (and I didn't know the risk I was taking then either), and I liked it, but shit...it just ain't worth the risks and the long term effects.
