No foreigners posting bullshit about soccer or rugby. Hear that TH? Wait, you're sleeping now anyway.

Hard to say...but I would pick Tommy Maddox as the player who has most turned around a franchise.

1.Brett Favre
2.Donovan Mcnabb
3.Priest Holmes
4.Derrick Brooks
5.Brian Dawkins
6.Drew Bledsoe

Because their defense is kicking major ass? Favre is having a great year. But his defense is having just as good of a year.

Darren Sharper should be an MVP canididate...he singlehandedly won some game I can't remember on Monday night a few weeks back...

Tommy Maddox

Hell he stepped up to the plate after not playing for 5 years and he is winning again. Taking a team from last to 1st place.

I don't know about that. The phrase "smoke and mirrors" comes to mind. Opportunistic, yes, for sure though.

Good thing my Lavy cheerleading ended days ago ;)

That is quite an efficient perfoamance he's having.

And doing it in arguably the worst division is in football...

And I noticed that the Steelers enjoyed increased sucess as they gave more carries to Amos Zereoue...

All Maddux does is not make the mistakes Steward did...Burress, Zereoue and the D are what's winning...

Maddux's job is comparable to Dilfer's in the Ravens' super bowl run..not at all worthy of an MVP...

Shaq,

Maddox's numbers and the way Pittsburgh is winning are not comparable to those put up by Dilfer. Dilfer just didn't make mistakes, he didn't put up points. Maddox is having good numbers, putting up points, and winning games, not just waiting for the D to shut the opponent down. I agree that the Steelers are in the worst league, but Maddox is doing a respectable job.

Zerroue came in right as Bettis was doing better. Zerroue has no hand in the Steelers' success. Bettis' last game was with Maddox and he had a kickass game before he got hurt. The entire team - including ALL running backs - do better with Maddox.

I don't think the Packers, Eagles, Patriots or Falcons are kicking themselves for not being able to start Maddux at QB.

He's got a great line, 2 pro bowl calibur receivers that Stewart could never hit and 2 good running backs.

What Maddux is doing is a feel good type story but nothing spectacular. The Steelers were predicted to play this well at the beginning of the year with Stewart. If Stewart were in their with this record no one would be talkin MVP, it's just he was so bad when Maddux came in his expectations were lowered.

They are no less than 11 more worthy MVP candidates than Maddux..

Tommy Maddox 28-41 for 473 yards, 4 TD 1 INT

Not bad for an insurance salesman.

There's no point in even discussing this, btw. Unless both arms and his dick fall off, Favre will win because he's Favre - few people become a legend while they're still playing.

Btw, Larry Johnson should win the Heisman. He could've run for 400+ yards against Northwestern if JoePa hadn't pulled him early in the 3rd quarter. Would've had 350 yards against Illinois if an 84 yard TD hadn't been called back on a penalty.

So far my mid-season vote goes to Brett Favre...but after seeing what Marc Bulger did today and the past 3 weeks, his stock is definetly rising

Too bad his butt is going to be sitting next week.

Btw, Bulger is just another of those Western PA guys who just know how to play QB.

I think he's in the same category as Maddux...only so much credit can be given when you are surrounded by great players...

The fact that Maddux and Bulger sucked when they weren't throwing to Hines Ward and Issac Bruce is an obvious indicator that the talent around them has risen..not necessarily their play...

You're not very bright are you?

Where exactly has Bulger played other than St Louis? When exactly did he suck?

Maddox was MVP of the XFL - where he was just surrounded by oodles of talent, lol.

Doesn't matter how much talent you have around you if you can't make the plays - just ask Kordell Stewart and Jamie Martin.

Hell, I barely pay attention to my own time, sorry.

And I figured someone would hijack this into a "NFL sucks, rugby/soccer yada yada yada........." you get the picture.

Now, I know it's time to put my kid to bed ;)

Well put. Except if his dick does fall off, he'll still win.

Priest Holmes or Brett Favre(and that is coming from a bears fan) :).

If Bulger or Maddox deserve a nod, I don't think we should forget about Pennington. Since he began playing the Jets have turned around. He has accuracy like nobody's business. He is NOT surrounded by the greatest of receivers, that's for sure.

His numbers per game are not as high, but he's doing a kickass job.

Yeah, very true!

I love watching the "next generation" of quarterbacks come into the league, hoping it will be 1984 all over again. Between Pennington and Harrington and Carr, I hope these three have long, successful careers.
