India and Pakistan play hockey. It's a Summer Games sport. Americans call it "field hockey" and are awful at it. My prediction: U.S. 3, Canada 2.

That isn't hockey! I'm not sure what it is but it isn't hockey. I don't care what they choose to call it, there is only one real hockey and it's played on ice.

It takes one to know one.

There will be no Olympic break in the NHL in 2006. The league will not shut down for 10 days so players can travel to Torino and back. It would be nice for each country to be able to use its best players but NHL clubs pay millions of dollars and they think they should have priority.

Gary Bettman was able to convince teams to allow NHL players in the Nagano and Salt Lake City Games as a way to boost viewership and PR for the NHL.

That's not neccessarily true. The game tomorrow might be so huge that Bettman might have to allow NHL'ers in the next games.

Canada 4
USA 2

I was thinking the Cdn team until Russia hung up 7 on Belarus

Yeah but Canada could have had 9 or 10 against Belarus. We let them off the hook in the third

Golden boy from CT.....Chris Drury....

Chris Drury from CT (who now plays with the Colorado
Avalanche) seems to win wherever he goes.....I remember
him way back when he was part of the winning Little League
Team back from Trumbull CT in '89 at the Little League World
Series.....then he was a hockey star at Fairfield Prep (local
boys prep school), then at Boston University (he was recipient
of the Hobey Baker Award in '98)........and won the Stanley
Cup with Colorado. And now he is on Team USA.........

Can I say....good luck charm? We'll see tomorrow!

Sure, that might happen. Doubt it though.

That's interesting...

educational. I suppose somebody must watch the Cricket and Rugby-type events...

Sports today will be limited to KU at Nebraska and drunken whiffle-ball in the back yard...

Am proud to say I have managed to watch 0 minutes (A few seconds flipping through channels to be honest. Just until I saw snow.) of Olympic coverage.

USA, USA, USA!!

Alright folks!
Run out and get yourself some snacks.......grab some
friends n' family......cuz in 2 hours and 20 minutes the
"mother of all hockey games" will begin!

Go USA!!

After the quality of play that we've witnessed here so far - and it's been the best hockey I've watched in years and years (no fighting - the goons all stayed home! :D ), there will be some strong pressure by the IOC, I think, to bring the all-stars back. After we've tasted the best, it will be difficult to care much if the NHL players aren't there. The gold will then be tainted by "if our best players were there then 'country of choice' would not have won."

Some good games so far, I agree

I agree that the hockey in the Games so far has been
exciting......a surprise for Belarus......was happy they
had even made it into the medal round, though Russia
beat their pants off......I give Belarus a lot of credit for
being strong........

This year's USA squad has been MUCH better than
back in '98.......when there was that whole thing about
trashing the rooms and stuff.....as far as I know our
guys this time around have been quite good :) I'm excited
for the game today.....and even if the US gets silver, they
still have a medal which they have not won in 22 years
regardless. But the gold is what we are aiming for! :D

One hour and 5 minutes before the big game!!

Don't forget to run out to the store for those
last minute goodies, and call your friends, and
get 'em over to watch the game!

And if you're not going to be home, set your VCR!

*counting down*!!!! :D

I just hope tjhat it is a fairly officiated game, with the players making the game. Either team winning will be great for North American hockey.

Saying that, GO USA

In the Hockey gold medal game.....

Either Canada or the US will win..........:p

Either way, IMHO it should be a great game. I, personally, feel like the US will win but it won't be a one sided victory either way. It will be close...........like 3-2 or 4-3 or even 2-1.

I have been licking my proverbial chops to see this game today.

GO USA.

I am just actually glad that Gold and Silver in Hockey will goto a North American Country.

May the best team (today anyways.........) win.

I agree!

That the gold and silver will go to a North American
country!

Oh shit.....its 2:30pm...gotta go start watching the game!!!

May the best team win!!

I tip my hat to the Canadian Men's and Women's Hockey teams.

Both played well and deserved to win.

I also would like to tip my hat to the US Men's and Women's Hockey Teams..........

............until next time, the Canadians are the champions of Ice Hockey. *tipping hat*

Congratulations, Canada. It was a good game most of the way but the Canadians were better today. One nice thing about the game is that the outcome didn't hinge on a judgment call. The Americans did well to finish second.

I hope the NHL will release its players to battle in the Torino Games in 2006. It would create another outstanding Olympic hockey tournament.

Well, it seems fitting that Canada holds the titles.
It's their sport.
It's been great the way they've shared it & their atheletes with the rest of the northern world.

Great game!

Both the US and Canada played their hearts out.......and
Canada had it in them to win the gold!

Well deserved after 50 years! Well done!

Not a boring game...very fast, quick, exciting!

To Team USA......even with silver, you are winners!

Congrats to all!
