There were three good arguments that Jesus was Black:

1. He called everyone "brother."
2. He liked Gospel.
3. He couldn't get a fair trial.

But there were three equally good arguments that Jesus was Jewish:

1. He went into His Father's business.
2. He lived at home until he was 33.
3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin and his Mother was sure he was God.

But then there were another three equally good arguments that he was Italian:

1. He talked with his hands.
2. He had wine with every meal.
3. He used olive oil a lot.

But then there were three equally good arguments that Jesus was a Californian:

1. He never cut his hair.
2. He walked around barefoot all the time.
3. He started a new religion.

But then there were three equally good arguments that Jesus was Irish:

1. He never got married.
2. He was always telling stories.
3. He loved green pastures.

But the most compelling evidence of all; conclusive proof that Jesus was a woman:

1. He fed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was no food.
2. He kept trying to get a message across to a bunch of men who just didn't get it.
3. And even when He was dead, He had to get up because there was work to do.

Well, Mae, you've stereotypically insulted most of the same people I have, no wonder you got 21 reads and no commentary,

Heh...

;)

Maeveo,

I love it.

Although to be fair we have to add a few groups to this. We have to show how he was a Muslim and how he was or wasn't a Catholic.

Any help out there for us?

Cat

Jesus was in fact jewish and there is strong evidence to suggest he was married and had children.

I showed this to my Methodist Minister sister and she roared with laughter.

That would frighten me to see

I read EXCAVATING JESUS, and Jesus comes across as a fringe socialist malcontent. Apparently he pissed a lot of people off with his ideas. He was not popular. The book discredits many of the historical events associated with Jesus. He wasnt born in Bethlehem. There was no synagogue in Nazareth. Every unmarried woman was a 'virgin,' pregnant or not.

Just proof that Jesus is indeed everything to everyone :p
I wish he was in the Yellow Pages. My tap leaks and I need advice on my portfolio

Not according to EXCAVATING JESUS. Jesus was a small-time exhorter who kept out of sight, out of town, as much as possible. Middle-class Jews did not like him.

'cos Jesus was such an unusual name at the time, easy to work out one from the other, right? ;)

End of the day, I'm sure this was meant as a light hearted thread, so any chance of keeping it so? :D

You sinned, you forgot to capitalize God. Even worse, you forgot the apostrophe God's.

Specially after a couple of potines

I think the real problem with Jesus and one that you people are talking around is the fact that he never published. You would think that the members of the Author's Hangout would have picked up on this right away.

Yeah, cause if he had published he could have gotten tenure...

Of course they didn't like him. If he carried on with his 'rebellion', he would most likely upset their indecent wealth and lives of luxury, achieve at the expense and efforts of the ordinary people. This is nothing new. We all know the priesthood at that time was corrupt and in total collusion with the Roman authorities to maintain their wealth. They were prepared to do anything to maintain that status quo. And they did.

Matriarch...you will not understand...but consider that most of the world is not Christian and has no concern for Christ or Christianity in the least.

There are some who consider the scourge of Jesus and Christianity and the sacrificial, altruistic theology that plagued the civilized world as instrumental in bringing on the thousand year long Dark Ages, as 'faith' replaced reason in the affairs of man.

Religion has brought about more human suffering than all the plagues and famines and droughts combined and some perceive the houses of worship as other perceive the gas chambers of Germany. Even today, Religion, of the Muslim flavor, is once again causing havoc in the world.

Need I provide more examples?

Amicus...

Please do not be alarmed, I am not stalking you. I am actually kind of agreeing with you. Gasp.

Besides even us godless types have our crosses to bear (sic), as you will surely agree. Stalin comes to mind here.

And now if Mother will pass the Milk......

KC

(Should godless be capitalized too?)
