There is no set answer. What might be the primary influence in my life wouldn’t apply to yours at all. But I personally think that TV advertisers want very much to bend our minds to accept their thinking and to purchase the products they push at us.

To add to all of this one must also consider the difference between conviction and a preference. A preference can change according to the situation while a conviction is something set in stone.
