Do you wonder when you start a thread and see there have been views but no responses? Do you wonder if it was vets you know or lurkers who ran that count up without replying?

umm...it never occured to me to wonder before.

Of course, I don't start many threads.....

Now, though, I guess I'll be wondering all the time. Gee, thanks a lot, Lukky.

Neither. I figure it's anyone, who once they open the thread, realize it's nonsensical dribble.

Yeah I always wonder why 100 people look at it and only 7 respond. I guess there are a lot of lurkers out there. Or I am just boring and have nothing good to say :-D

I was thinking about it other day when that thread with the phone number was posted.

I think some of the views come from the same people who replied, just checking to see what others are saying after their post. Most are probably just mysterious lurkers, especially if the thread title is catchy.

I never considered that angle. I'm always wondering if my threads will enticing enough for people to post!!

I'm guilty. I'm a big time lurker most of the time. I might view a thread lots of times but never post to it. I just like to follow the conversation, and know what's going on, even if I have nothing to contribute.

I do the same thing. If the threads already on page 3 or higher I rarely post but I often look just to keep up with what's being said.

Exactly. A lot of times, someone (or lots of someone's) have said what I want to say already, and probably lots better. So instead of chiming in with "Me too" I just follow the conversation.

And I like to read the political and religious discussions, but I usually don't really want to get into all of that stuff myself, so I might lurk on those threads, just to see what everyone else has to say.

Oh those political and religious threads are black holes waiting to suck you in. Beware.

Hey - you looked AGAIN! :D

Ah but some of those are the funniest threads out there. I often wonder if some of our more political members know that they have me in tears reading thier posts.

I'm thinking some are utterly humor, but some are taking themselve so very seriously that even an ironic reply goes sailing over the radar.

That's why I love to lurk on them and read them. I am usually laughing my ass off too much to even think of something witty to say.

Your right.
I'm not gonna name names but I have it on first hand authority that some of them that are taken the most seriously are being utterly sarcastic.

Others are just so serious they wouldn't recognize a joke if it hit them in the ass.
