Who is Your Favorite Female Singer of All Time?

My favorite is Grace Slick.

Picture of her during the Jefferson Airplane days.

In my opinion, she still looks beautiful in my eyes because her voice enchants me.

My favorite song from Jefferson Airplane is "Lather"

Here are the lyrics:

Lather was thirty years old today,
They took away all of his toys.
His mother sent newspaper clippings to him,
About his old friends who'd stopped being boys.

There was Harwitz E. Green, just turned thirty-three,
His leather chair waits at the bank.
And Seargent Dow Jones, twenty-seven years old,
Commanding his very own tank.

But Lather still finds it a nice thing to do,
To lie about nude in the sand,
Drawing pictures of mountains that look like bumps,
And thrashing the air with his hands.

But wait, oh Lather's productive you know,
He produces the finest of sound,
Putting drumsticks on either side of his nose,
Snorting the best licks in town,
But that's all over...

Lather was thirty years old today,
And Lather came foam from his tongue.
He looked at me eyes wide and plainly said,
Is it true that I'm no longer young?

"We've Only Just Begun" lyrics by the Carpenters:

We've only just begun to live
White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way
(We've only begun)

Before the risin' sun, we fly
So many roads to choose
We'll start out walkin' and learn to run
And yes, we've just begun

Sharing horizons that are new to us
Watching the signs along the way
Talkin' it over, just the two of us
Workin' together day to day
Together
Together

This is really difficult.

I have seen Tina Turner and Cher in concert and both were great, but I also have a lot of love for music by Stevie Nicks, Florence Welsh, Etta James...it just keeps going, so this isn't getting me any closer to answering this.

This picture is really interesting. Heard a piece on them the other day and he was an extremely hard task master. Check his eyes and mouth in light of that.

I completely forgot Charlotte Church and Enya and Annie Lennox and Clannad.
This is way too hard.

Jennifer Warnes.
I don't care what she looks like - her voice is exquisite (I just know I didn't spell that right!)

With all the different styles this is a tough one to pin down.

For now I'm going with Ella Fitzgerald.

I don't have an all-time favorite female singer.

I've enjoyed so many over the years. I might like Polly Jean Harvey one day and Adele the next. Stevie Nicks and then Sade. Whitney and then Rihanna (shush). Edie Brickell and then Alison Goldfrapp. Nadia Ali then Annie Lennox. Celine and next Babs. Fiona Apple and then Shirley Manson. Pink and Kelly Clarkson.

Fuck, so much talent - just go with my first name listed.

Donna Summer really needs mentioned, my bad. I hate these threads.

Ask about those we can't stand, instead.
