Nope, no 'Other' here.

You have to choose which one of these four you like most. You may like all of them or none of them. You may consider others to be funnier (Key Stone Kops, Buster Keaton, Harold Llyod, Dubya Bush...)

I am also interested in the difference between European/American opinions - hence the different catagories.

Doesn't cover everyone, I know. Choose the one which best suits you sir - conitental land mass, culture you feel closer to, 'My dad was American/British' - whatever.

Just wondering.

Thanks.

Charlie is a legend. The Marx Bros. had the lines, but in my opinion Chaplin is the greatest and funniest.

We'll let them be British and so 'European,' for the purposes of this poll. Unless they have any better claim to being American.

Red Skelton rules! But since he wasn't on your list I had to go with A&C; they are just classic comedy!

Abbot and Costello were a poor copy of Laurel and Hardy. Costello wasn't even any good when he gave the movies and formed a new wave band with the Attractions.

Charlie Chaplin was never funny.

The Marx brothers had a few good moments but were really better off as a 'music hall' act - a venue which suited their act more.

Laurel and Hardy. Brilliant. Still funny when they speak German. And anyone who can be funny while speaking German deserves my vote.

none of the others would exist if it weren't for chaplin.
:)

n/a

Dave Allen
Rowan Atkinson
Billy Connolly
Hale and Pace
John Cleese
Benny Hill

Laurel and Hardy were making films around the same time. They were very different to Chaplin. For a start they were funny.

Chaplin started making films 15 years before the other two amusing chaps.
If you don't find him funny, why put him on your list?

I think Abbott & Costello (silly) were very different than Laurel & Hardy (more dry). I happen to love Abbott & Costello, every one of their movies plus most of their TV shows. I've watched Laurel & Hardy and just can't get into their type of comedy.

LMAO.

A pair who haven't achieved or been as funny as anyone else on your list.

You forgot Morcombe and Wise.

And Bill Hicks.

I guess the millions Hale and Pace have made was because people felt sorry for them

Cause lots of other people do find him funny.

And lots of people watch Eastenders and Coronation street. Doesn't mean they're any good.

I don't mind Hale and Pace, I just don't think they are in the same league as the others you mentioned.

Marx Bros win just because of the whole duck skit.

Laurel & Hardy gets old quickly. I haven't seen enough of the Marx Brothers.

Abbot & Costello are timelessly funny.

I always get a laugh from the Marx Brothers...Groucho was one of the funniest areound..and their interplay was remarkable.

Abbot an Costello get old quick....they had some very funny bits (Who's on First? is one of the greatest pieces of comedy ever done).

Never liked Laurel and Hardy.

Charlie Chaplin was great...but i thought Buster Keaton was far funnier.

Bill Hicks deserves a thread of his own. I'd like to see how many people even know who he was.

Bumping for the people who couldn't be bothered to scroll down to the bottom of the page.

And I need your votes too.

Can't let the Marx Brothers 'win'

Vote Laurel And Hardy. You know it makes sense.
