I have lost a couple of followers in the last couple of days?

Not as if I have published anything?

Hmmm

Hey ho.

Sometimes people terminate their accounts. The site probably bounces the occasional troll as well. Those are two possible explanations for a missing follower*, and less is more when it comes to the latter.

*edit: A missing follower that has nothing to do with you or your actions, moreover.

The ULA looks upon your recent behaviour as deviant. We are displeased. Provide us with hot titties or be doomed. Doomed, I say!

Well I have that very story ready for publishing on the build up for New Year Eve and the resolution to do just that.
If that person is going to try to quit by sucking cock everything they fancy a cigarette, I feel fair to warn you that @Kumquatqueen already did it.

Though in fairness, I can't imagine you of all people having missed that one.

I don't monitor my followers list at all... until this morning. I do appreciate "having fans", but it doesn't drive my writing.

Without getting into the meat of why I'm asking this question, is there a facility to gently remove a follower? Like without letting them know they've been voted off the island? It might be useful for dealing with "followers" who we know are monitoring story activity for nefarious purposes.

I don’t think so; following is a one way street. It wouldn’t do much anyway, since it’s trivial to just create another account.

At the risk of being annoying myself, I'll just point out . . .

It's "whom" not "who."

<thread drift>

Yes. Of course. I happen to make that distinction in my less-casual writing, and even joke about it in some of my story dialogs. However, hasn't "whom" become somewhat archaic, especially in casual settings? I recall some discussion about it a couple or three years ago.

I thought about that, but in my use case "they" wouldn't know it until they accidentally stumbled into a new story "they" hadn't been notified of. OTOH, one rarely is able to put 2+2 together discerning a specific antagonist in one's follower list. Where is the "pound sand" button for it?
;)

I clearly did! Do I need to do a colab with @Kumquatqueen ?
I think I mentioned the story to you ages ago (Smoking Hot, or The Bet if you want the version without gay sex), but let's just say it's about quitting and the cock-sucking, and not for smoking fetishists at all! No smoking beyond the first chapter...

Readers are a strange bunch, and I include myself in that.

I think i might check out the non gay sex version...not that there is any issues with gay sex.

"On the list the followers come and go, Talking of Michelangelo." Followers are are strange metric, because most of them have dozens or hundreds of favorite authors. It's occurred to me that on a site this big, each author is a small speck in the total output. I've lost a few followers over the years, but I've only know that if the number goes down a bit. It's an aspect of social media, I suppose, like "swiping left or right" perhaps. It's done so casually that I don't know who most of them are, and they certainly don't vote or comment in vast numbers. (Like eleven votes out of 198 followers.) I've long known that most of them are not eagerly awaiting my next submission.
