Who gives a fuck how the Taliban prisoners are being treated?

The misplaced concern over this is disgusting.

This is the group responsible for the murder of several thousand innocent Americans. Think back, kiddies, and don't forget.

Phuck

I wish they'd hand them over to the Cubans to be integrated into thier enlightened society!

It's like Donald Rumsfeld said today, something about if you were an alien and looked down on earth for the past 3 days, you'd think the United States was the cause of all the world's problems. Well, PP man has always believed that.

Possible reasons for this thread:
  • Miles is blowing off some steam after too much CNN today.
  • Miles is drunk on SoCo and Draino.
  • Miles is one stupid, inconsiderate bastard with no clue.
  • Miles is playing Devil's advocate.
  • All of the above.

  • If he was forced to watch the Clinton News Network all day, that's a defense for almost any crime.

I watched it live. Not the first crash, but everything after. The second crash, the towers collapsing...

Now the first reports were how bad we are, but subsequent follow-ups and investigations are once again proving how great we are as a people, who magnanimous...

Did you not see Sunday night's 60 minutes on how the French would torture them? How Alan Dersowitz (sp?) would torture them? How about thier mercy? Hauling prisoners into a stadium to be executed to the cheers of thousands?

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!

Let me know when I cower and hide like a little bitch, until then just call me ASSHOLE.

Thanks in advance.

If you give up on discussing the merits of your initial post and wanna toss shots at least give me something to work with.

"You have cooties!"

Hows that, good?

"First, the Taliban didn't attack us. The Taliban was a harsh, discriminatory, egregiously violative of human rights regime. They treated women like shit. They should have been ousted prior to this attack, but they weren't. We had to wait until OUR people were hurt to know that thousands upon thousands of women and children had been fucking tortured and killed before WE acted. Yeah, WE're such a great and benevolent country. Uh-huh, right.

So now, because we had thousands of people killed by a group that is only HARBORED by the Taliban, we are justified in doing whatever we want to them."

The Taliban were financed by Al Qaeda and the people (Saudi's, Iraqui's, Iranians, even Chinese) who filled thier coffers. They never called all the shots.

It's a bigger world than Democrats vs. Republicans.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Misplaced concern? How dare you!

If they weren't to dedicate their efforts and concerns to the fair and gracious treatment of these valued freedom fghters and liberators, then they might be inclined to look at the human rights abuses across the fence in downtown Havana and that would require some decency and courage to call Castro on this slaughter of Cubans who dare speak out against him and his oppressive regime.

Or perhaps their attention might be diverted to one of the African nations where slavery is still the accepted way of life. Or maybe an Islamic nation where freedom is at best an elusive dream and religious oppression is a way of life.

So be tolerant and understanding, miles. If they weren't devoting their efforts to defending the human rights of these murderous animals, they might have time to advocate against some truly vicious, totalitarian governments who are oppressing entire populations, not selectively quarantining the animals who murder and slaughter innocent victims.

Cut them some slack miles. If they're not allowed to misplace their sympathy, they just might direct it toward a real problem.

Nah, on second thought, no chance of that happening. Give 'em hell, miles with my blessings.

Let's throw the principles of this nation to the wind. FUCK justice, fuck liberty, fuck innocent until proven guilty, fuck international law, fuck everything because we were the big lion who got a thorn in our toe and now its' ok for us to lash out.
Actually, the liberal left political establishment has pretty well done this already which is in great measure responsible for many of the wrongs that exist in America today.

If its a war on Terrorism and the captures fighters are prisoners are they not by extension prisoners of war?

"I smelled the coffee after wanting revenge for a few weeks after the crisis. I understood what the long term effects of revenge might be for the US in the international community. The coffee smell ain't coming through your anger yet so you can get a good whiff of the brew."

That is precisely the thinking that led the Clinton Administration. Do you not get it! These people are engaged in Holy war and every weakness will be exploited! The only thing they will ever understand is, "Your God kicked my God's ass, therefore, for some reason, my God turned his back on me."

Then we can have peace.

I've been typing and re-typing, trying to say basically what you said, for the past 20 minutes. So, I'll say DITTO.

I said it in another thread. They're fed, they're clothed, and they're given rudimentary (or better) shelter. More than they were given back home, more than they offered their 'citizens', and frankly, more than they deserve.

Oh wait, I just had a great idea. Let's round up the refugees... bring THEM to Cuba, feed them 3 a day, clothe them, offer them shelter, and send the assholes back to the wasteland that is Afghanistan. Then no one's pissed off.

Geez, folks,

I left my 'puter for a week and come back to everyone RAVING over a simple statement, what happened?

Lavy, all Miles said was that he was fed up with the "misplaced concern" exibited, I assume, by some of the press, especially the liberal weenies in the "old country". It has become a little excess considering the humanity and care we have shown in waging a conflict against an enemy embedded within a society that was used as a shield during that conflict.

Lavy, what have you seen, either in the way we waged the war against the Taliban or Al'queda, or the way we are treating those who tried to maintain their immoral hold on a weaker society that would make you want to renounce your citizenship? Was Syn's comment what set you off? I read his as a tounge-in-cheek comment slightly critical of a weak group of people who think if we just "love everyone" the world will be a rosey, wonderful place.

There is a time to shoot mad dogs, or at least lock them up where they will never bite again, no?

I get it now...

Lavy is drunk and gearing up for the off-year elections.

Actually, fucktard was my contribution, but that's not important. ;)

The reason we give a fuck about how these detainees are treated is because we're not the Taliban. We're not terrorists. If we lose sight of what we stand for, and adopt an eye for an eye attitude, then they've won because we've let them destroy our principles. Got it?

If someone does something wrong to you, it's wrong. If you do the same thing right back? It's still wrong. "He hit me back first!" isn't a valid excuse after you've outrgrown your schoolyard days.

I haven't forgotten what happened September 11. I'm still furious, and I want justice. My resolve is as strong as ever, but I will be damned if I let those bastards rob me of my humanity and compassion. I'll be damned before I let those bastards turn me into monsters like them.

Really, it isn't about kindness. It's about sticking to your principles all the time--whether it's convenient or not. Throwing your principles out the window the moment your emotions get out of control? All that shows is that you didn't have principles to begin with; all you had was lip service.

The fact is unnecessary cruelty is just that. It isn't justice. It isn't righteous. It just makes us no better than the people we're fighting. I'd rather we maintain our dignity in the face of adversity and leave the schoolyard politics out of it.
