Who are these people?

Do we really hav so many people at lit that you don't really notice someone until they've past the 1000 post mark? There's only a few non gurus whose names I know, but I don't chat really anymore-so I doubt they know it. But who is this, RawHumor? there are more, many more that I just don't recognize. Are you older members with new monikers, or is CB really, truly clueless?

Woo hoo! I'm officially somebody now!

I AM a new person to Lit, but not to the web. I'm not exactly sure what you'd like to know about me, besides the fact that I'm not an old-time regular with a new name.

I tend to be a right-wing pervert who cracks lame jokes, often at my own expense... I'm a guy... Hmmmm.... and I'm from the Midwest.

Oh, and the way I got over 1000 posts without you noticing me was largely because I used to spend most of my time over in the Amateur Pic Forum.

So I'm not going crazy...Cool!

I can't testify either way about that...
;)

But *doing my best Eeyore imitation* thanks for noticing me.

Way to go Raw Humor. Now all you need is a troll. :)

I didn't think guys got trolls... I thought they were reserved for the woman-folk. I've been wrong before - mostly in public.

And some trolls are good... they can come up with those cool riddles once you get them out from under their bridges.
:p

I'm still trying to figure out how I've been here for 5 months and only have 600 posts. Everyone else is blowin' past me!;)

Who knows, trolls are odd creatures, too difficult for ordinary folk to understand. ;)

Here's the secret to bumping up your # of posts. Do one or more of the following:
1. Get into a drawn out meaningless thread (there are a few over here and the Freaky Deaky Yummy Playground over in the Amateur Pic Forum).
2. Get into a long-winded political/religous discussion that goes in circles.
3. Get into a dick-waving contest with someone who wants to prove that he's smarter/stronger/bigger/studlier than you are.

I've done the first two, but have mostly managed to avoid the third one. I'm trying to give up #2 because it does nothing but raise your blood pressure. And #1 is a good time-killer but not much else.

Somebody very wise once told me that nobody really dislikes newbies..

You just want to know that they will actually be sticking around for a duration..
(breaks exempt)

People will always come and go..

I watch people who used to post everyday then stop ..come back and say very similar things to what you are conveying, CB.

Everybody whom keeps tabs on what’s happening in the Village.. knows who you are but all new posters think you are new.

It’s just a freaky cyclic thing..ya know?

Blowing past you, 1hotjob?
Well that's because Lit is addictive and you aren't hooked yet.

The people who have been here the longest have built friendships with each other that are sometimes intimidating to newbies. There can be half a dozen people conversing in a thread; someone new will post something and be completely ignored. The conversation just keeps going as if they'd never said a thing. There have been occasions when I've felt ignored myself.

I've been here a while now but have only a few hundred posts simply because I often have nothing relevant to add to a thread.

(Not to mention the fact that I no longer have the ability to start a new thread)

Excpet for Laurel, Manu and Bob Peale, you're all fucking newbies to me, but, yeah, every once in a while I see someone with 4000 posts and wonder "Who the HELL is that?"

Umm, I think Sephiroth put the point quite nicely actually.
(I agree with you, and I acknowledge you in the process - are you impressed?!)I'm here a lot, but I don't post much because I don't want to intrude too much on others' conversations (apart from now o'course.....)
:)

Haha...I actively try to fly under the radar blip.

Not as easy as one would think.

I'm working on the whole elbow thing. I read a lot of the threads, even if I don't say anything, and I'm am always seeing ppl with 1000's of posts and thinking, 'how come I've never seen you before?', I haven't been here too long but I do notice it and I know what you mean.
Nice av CB

Guys get trolls, but they tend not to last as long cause guys just aren't as interesting as the people of estrogen.

That makes sense... and also, I think, when a guy get a troll he may not get as many people jumping to his defense the way a woman with a troll would, so it's not as "publicized"... but again, I've been wrong before.
:)

I personally think our resident troll is a woman.
But CB, that still doesn't change the underlying reality that the people of estrogen are more interesting. ;)

Do you suppose the troll has 1000 posts?
