It seems that I saw several posts that mentioned sewing this weekend. Tell what you made or worked on.

For me, I made:
2 scrub tops for me
1 scrub top for my son
1 Link the video game hero costume for my son-a tunic, elf hat, and "boots"
1 real blouse for myself
3 skirts
3 throw pillows
1 experiemental quilt pillow (for us to keep in the pickup)
and my son created a dog toy.

I am so proud of myself that I could bust--I have needed some new clothes for so long--have been wearing pants to church for about 2 months because my skirts have all suffered the parental-syndrome (chocolate stains, koolaid spills, bleach spots). I am a happy camper. I have a few things left to go.

What else has been created this weekend?
(And what projects do you do with all those left over scraps???)

wow.

I wish I could sew. It sure would save me a ton of money. I start school tommorow so I wanted some new "school" clothes. I just got a pair of plain black jeans and a hooded sweatshirt... and I almost died when I realized it was 85.00. I should definitely learn to sew... I tried once in home ec. The teacher had me make a hamburger pillow... It was really weird... it turned out horrid.

Oh, what is a scrub top?

I work in healthcare and scrubs are "medical clothes".

No body wears the traditional blues or greens unless they are working surgury.

I found some cool fabric with lightbulbs all over it for 3 bucks (1 dollar a yard and 3 yards to sew and leave me room for screwups). The thread was a buck--4 bucks for a shirt that would have cost me 18. I am thrilled.
I like my scrubs with the pockets a certain way too and a little hook thing for my badge--it is better to make my own since I get EXACTLY what I want.

I ahve a suggestion for you to save money--head over to the fabric section in hobby lobby or jo ann's next time you are in the store and ask the lady who is cutting the fabric if she knows someone who sews for cash--here, the going rate is 6$ for a regular plain shirt (like a scrub) if you supply the fabric. You can find al kinds of good stuff on the 2$ rack at WallyWorld (right now all the halloween and x-mas stuff is on that rack). You can also hit up any neighborhood ladies or put an ad up at school for some basic elactic waist skirts or whatever. It could save you mucho and help someone else out and best of all--get you EXACTLY what you want. If you were here in the lower Houston area, I'd offer to make a piece or two for you and tell you all the good places to shop for cheap--heh heh heh. (I've been on a budget forever!!!!)

Well, I sewed 50 ice hockey jerseys in three days. The names and numbers. I have done 175 and have 275 more to go.

I had to sew my seed of love...doe that count?

-ruffles- No, cause that would be Sow, not sew. ;)

Gilly Bean, who has been told more then once that she is full of it this weekend.

:p

I should have spent the weekend sewing. I have a baby quilt to finish for a friend.

I don't know if what I did qualifies as sewing, but I created panels for a table to hide the shelves underneath. I used Stitch Witchery to create the seams, and then stitched velcro along the tops of the panels to attach them to the table. I like the pattern so much that I'm going to create a coordinating valance with the same material. Again, no sewing involved. I'm more of a staple-gun kinda gal.

I started a new cross stitch picture.

It has been a while since I have cross stitched, I forgot how much I like it.

And I taught my daughter how to get started yesterday too, so she has a small picture started too :)

My aunt did the same for me when I was five. It was a small Christmas ornament with a little girl. Twenty one years later, I have 65+ ornaments for my tree, all in cross stitch. Great stress reliever.

It takes me an hour to sew a button back on. I never learned to sew, wish I had.. I would love to be able to make my own scrub tops and save that money. I did try crossstitching once, but my eyes started crossing..:)
