good heavens! They don't hurt too much, there's only two, on the right side, and I'm NOT running a fever. Now the question is, do I go to the doctor now or wait and see what happens?

Sounds like tonsilitis (sp?) if the spots are off to the side on your tonsils. Assuming you still have your tonsils, of course. Your throat would hurt.

Call the doc and ask if he/she wants you to come in.

White marks are a good indicator of strep throat, which might not run a fever just yet. Getting them checked out immidiately is the best course of action. The Strep bactiria can travel in your body, and if it winds up in your heart, it can kill you. Best not to take chances. Besides, you'll probably feel better knowing that it is not if it turns out to be something harmless. Less stress to go now and have it be minor than to go later for something major.

Honey, get to the doctor. I didn't right off and then proceeded to miss 2 weeks of work because of severe strep. There is a lot of it going around right now. please. You don't want it, trust me. it has been 2 weeks since I went back and I am still so damn tired.

And you won't like the side effects of the medicine you have to take if it is severe strep. trust me.

After two boys and a total of 10 years of daycare, we in this household have run the gambit of the cruds, and Strep on many, many occasions.

all i ever get is severe strep, but that sounds more like mouth blisters or cysts (grew to fast for cysts i think though)

lol... aw, you guys are all such sweethearts! Okay, I went to the doctor, they took some throat cultures (testing my gag reflexes, more like it), and put me on cephalixin or something like that. The strep test was negative, but they took another swab at my throat just in case, and will call sometime tomorrow with the results of that one. And then the doctor asks me if there's a chance of pregnancy, and my normal family doctor was checking my ankles for swelling a few weeks ago. Something is up, I think they're conspiring to make me clucky.

Do you have sinus problems? As yucky as it sounds, drainage can leave white marks on your throat.

Actually, I thought of that, because they started right beneath where the drainage is... but the doc said there wasn't a problem with my sinuses, and then he checked my ears, but nothing there either.

Even if it is not strep, take all of the course of anti biotics, just in case, unless told otherwise by a doctor. Other bactirias, which are not normally tested for can be just as bad as strep, and if they survive an incomplete course of an antibiotic, you have a good chance of getting a drug resistent thread, and more powerful pills (the side effects are definately NOT fun). Plus, Doctors are not conspiracy people, they just don't have all the answers. Sadists, on the other hand, is a debatable label (j/k, sorry got a blood test for chicken pox a week ago and still carry some left over memories). Hope you feel better soon.
