I see these "news conferences" with the American President on television sometimes. They're pathetic! Most of the questions are vague sort of "What are you going to do about Ukraine?" setups that just give an opportunity for recitation of talking points. Some bring up something important, like "Why did you fire the people in charge of nuclear safety?" but when a glib answer comes back, there's no follow-up!

Watch Question Time in Parliament some time, to see what real democracy is like!

People who keep records, arrange maintenance schedules, pay the contractors, arrange facilities to exist, arrange transport between facilities and maintenance of the transport keep the hardware safe. Just because they're not hitting the missiles with hammers doesn't mean they don't have a role.
