I mean honestly I'd love to see both made into movies. but what do you think? and what other great books do you think have been over looked by the movie makers?

Terry Gilliam was supposed to be making a GO flick but it stalled. BBC did a great radio version last year. I'd watch the hell out of Snowcrash if it was done right.

Good Omens, please. PLEASE.

I got one of my recent wishes, City of Bones.

The rest of mine are much more obscure. M. K. Wren's Phoenix Legacy series.

Any of the novels by Tim Dorsey featuring Serge Storms.

"In The Woods" and "The Likeness" by Tana French.

I don't think a movie's long enough for Good Omens. Too many of the good side bits would have to be left out.

Snow Crash *might* could be fit into a fairly long movie, but it would be a stretch.

do you think either of them are strong enough sectionally to be broken up into 2 movies?
or maybe like one of those 4 -90 minute episode long British min- seasons?
kinda like what was done with Spaced.
heck the same people could do it that did Spaced. It had some of the same people that were in the radio play.

Simon Pegg has enough Hollywood pull these days to get a project greenlit just by attaching his name to it.

there are also all of those Christopher Moore and Robert McCammon books that would make for some great movies.

Christopher Moore would be great.

"You Suck" and "Bite Me" are my favorites.

"Practical Demonkeeping" and "Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove" next. Because Chance.

i'd figure PDK would be a good intro to an ongoing franchise.

Embarrassed, Jenny looked down. "Today's special is Eggs-Sothoth-a fiendishly toothsome amalgamation of scrumptious ingredients so delicious that the mere description of the palatable gestalt could drive one mad," she said.

"You're joking?"

"No. The owner insists that we memorize the daily specials verbatim."

The dark man kept staring at her. "What does all that mean?" he asked.

"Scrambled eggs with ham and cheese and a side of toast."

"Why didn't you just say that?"

"The owner is a little eccentric. He believes that his daily specials may be the only thing keeping the Old Ones at bay."

I would LOVE to see a film of A DIRTY JOB!

As to the thread question: It really depends on who handles the writing duties and who directs.

It takes far more than just a name, you have to be able to find financing. Look at how many people attempted to get PREACHER done. Sam Mendes was on it for a while, James Marsden, when he was hot due to ENCHANTED and X-Men, was looking to produce and star for HBO...it is damn tough to get things moving. Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently gave up on getting Gaimen's Sandman brought to the big screen. A lot of films now have multiple production companies attached because the finances came from a number of different sources.

You need the right names attached (Pegg would help) but you have to get a shooting outline and a solidly researched budget. And even if you get that, it is still a long, tough road. I know a number of writers that have had things in the works, with strong names attached, only have to it all fall apart.

If I were talking a fancast, for Good Omens I want Mark Sheppard as Crowley because typecasting and I'm always up for more Mark Sheppard.

Aziraphale I'd like to see Tom Mison.

I remember hearing talk about Terry Gilliam doing Good Omens with Robin Williams as Aziraphale and Johnny Depp as Crowley. They didn't get the funding for some reason.

Good Omens is probably one of my favorite books, I re-read it at least once a year. I would love to see it made (WELL) into a feature length film.

I can't comment on Snowcrash as I haven't read it.

I get the Terry Gilliam-Robin Williams connection...

But...I'd hate to see American actors take the parts...

I'm American, and all, but this is a story about the British soul and how it defies evil.

The only Americans in the story...are the ones that are supposed to be raising the real Antichrist.
