Which word do you prefer?

In the context of a story, either is fine, as long as it fits the story. I tend to tie my narrative to ne character, if that character isn't pretty Butch, I don't use cunt. Conversly, if it's tied to a very top woman, I might use it as it would fit her perspective and inclinations.

Neither is wholly appropriate in every situation, so it's up to you as author to decide when andd what term you wish to use.
