I say Texas ranks as the proudest state in the US. No doubt about that. Texans are a strong unified lot. Never seen a Texan put down the state itself. Everywhere you go in Texas, you see the state flag. Traveling down the freeways and back roads, you see the Texas geographical shape or Lone Star prominently displayed and embedded in stone, wood, or metal.

Colorado possibly ranks a close second. And Michigan is definitely a proud state.

Having lived in Ga for a year now, I do not see a clear pride among Georgians.

Alaska!

Texas, and the Republic, can't properly defend borders. Consequently, we have this influx of illegal, uneducated, Hispanics draining on the resources ancestors fought to defend at the Alamo.

There is no such issue in FREE Alaska!:rose:

Pride, huh? Vermont. Those pansies are fools for Pride.

There are people who take pride in being from the States? Wait- I'm a redneck- I knew that. I honestly think that most rednecks have a lot of pride- I mean, here in the Bluegrass, we'll grab at anything. I thought Vonnegut lived here. We're taught that Lincoln lived here, even though he considered himself from Illinois. I think that Brad Pitt or someone famous like that was from Ky.

Unfortunetly, I think that much of our pride is in false things. Except horses. Everyone loves horsies. And the drugs. We lead the country in horses and drugs. And, I'm guessing, horse drugs.

Question is, if people in a state are state centric, does that mean they are less union centric? Does more 'Don't mess with Texas' equal less 'Murricka, fuck yeah'?

Or do they just pile it on?

Jefferson Davis said it best, IF THE STATES ARENT SOVEREIGN WE'D CALL OUR NATION 'THE UNITED STATE OF AMERICA'.

You just pile it on. We have a couple good, renewable resources, and among them are bullshit and gullibility. We simple cannot run out- I've tried to exhaust the supplies of even a single citizen, to no avail. Now, if we could find a way to run electricity off bullshit, we'd solve the energy crisis.

The Republic exists based on the acceptance of the fact by each individual state.

The document we call The Constitution was approved by each, individual, colony (i.e. state) at the time of creation otherwise it would not be law of the land.:rose:

I'm reading an interesting book about America. The books thesis is, American politics is a continuation of the English Civil War.

I have no use for any form of monarchy or a parlimentarian system.

England's civil wars were of a religious nature, per example being Charles I.

I don't see the comparison to modern American politics and would be bored shitless with this book Jim.

The state that has the biggest zoo, of course one could say, Michigan, with the Detriot Lions.

Any American who studies the British Bill of rights of 1689 will be surprised to notice how many of its provisions re-appeared within the US Constitution. Ironically, however, the UK parliament has since 1689 on numerous occasions, acted to limit and nullify many of the rights which Americans take for granted.

I'd have to go with Texas or New York.

I agree about state pride in Texas...it's basically a bombardment of Texas-is-awesome-motherfucker everywhere you go.

England's civil war was fought to prevent the development of an absolute monarchy and establish the supremacy of the parliament. Religion was important but by no means the most important factor.

Given your comment, I suspect that you might have have difficulty with any book at all!

How could I forget about New York? Yes, I have met some proud New Yorkers. They are not afraid to say who and what they are.

Texas is the type of state that does not wait around for everyone else. In times of state or national crisis, Texans do not sit around and whine or wait for the feds to save our asses.

Are you confusing England's civil wars with holy wars?

Well... except for the fact that Texas gets more Federal money than it pays back in taxes. It's a, national, welfare state.

Texans this isn't even a contest. New York is probably next up then California after that things get kinda hazy it seems.

I saw a picture from an Alaskan bar that said, "We'd like to remind our patrons from Texas that if you cut Alaska in half, Texas would be the 3rd largest state."

I thought y'hall had some kind of thing going on.

New York City has a ton of pride. The state is no different than any other. Possibly less since people from the state often get pissed when people assume they're from the city.
