I think you have it, Sher. The fanatics that Pure is talking about would be so much at odds with most of the population of Israel that they woud have no influence at all. Even better, they would be out of our hair and what little influence they have in the US would vanish. Best of all, they might even take Ashcroft with them. I believe all thinking persons should get behind this idea.

Actually, this is not such a far-fetched idea. A few years ago, some cult moved to a small city in Oregon and basically took over the town, electing their members to city government positions and passing over-the-top laws based on their religious beliefs. The real citizens of the city saw what was happening and tried to get their city de-incorporated so they would be covered by local county laws instead of the crackpot beliefs of the cult but failed. Eventually, the cult broke up and things are back to more or less normal in that city in Oregon.

I still think a remote island somewhere, possibly a small group of islands in the south Pacific. Not just 50,000 though, but ALL the fanatics that blow up clinics and kill doctors and try to get statues to wear clothes and think gays are criminals who should be locked up and all the other weird and rotten stuff like that. Especially, make sure Ashcroft is there. Then nuke the islands; get all the nuclear bomb testing done at once. Even invite other nations to test nukes there. They would all be dead and out of our hair. If they are right, they will all be in Heaven so they would be happy. If they are wrong, they will be in Hell, where they belong, or maybe just dead, which is good too. Everybody would get whatever benefits are gotten from nuclear testing. As I see it, everybody wins!!

Og suggested South Georgia in the Falklands, which is virtually uninhabited, except for penguins, but there are two problems there. First, it is property of the UK and they would probably be willing to sell it for such a worthy cause, but it would be a major expense and we have places in the Pacific that would work as well. Second, of course, is the penguin. I like penguins and I really hate the thought of hurting them when we nuke the fundamendalists.

Og, what if, after all the fundamendalists had been collected there, we nuked them. How much of a problem would this be to the penguins? Would there be a way we could get them to safety before doing the nuking? As I see it, this is actually the biggest drawback to using South Georgia for this purpose.
