which one hurts the most?

Braided cat o' nine tails or quirt? (Both leather.)

In my opinion it would be the quirt. The smaller amount of leather makes it sting worse. Especially if it's a thick quirt. I have two. One has thin wide falls, and the other has more narrow thick falls. The one quirt is like rawhide, it's REALLY thick. And it stings. If you hit hard enough with it I am sure you could lay someone's skin open.

In my opinion the cat is more of a thuddy implement then stingy if that makes sense. It packs more of a thud.

Thanks! I was torn between which one to buy. I think I'll get the quirt then. :D

There is a guy on ebay that sells some excellent quirts. Lemme see if I can find him for you.

Well I can't find that seller on ebay at the moment but there are some other good ones if you decide you like the looks of them. The ones that look more homemade are your best bet. I got one for $3.00 on ebay. It's the heavy duty one

Cool! :) I'll start looking for one on eBay then. The one I wa looking at from a leather shop online was $15 plus shipping.

Thanks!

That's not bad at all and you are welcome. If you have feed supply stores near you, check them out. They generally have some interesting horse tack.

I'd say it depends on who's hitting you with it, and how. My Master can make those lovely soft chamois deerskin warmup floggers feel like fire on my back!

DUSTY!!!

Its bad enough Page is a kitten with a gun, but a quirt as well!

If the quirt is tipped in buffalo and the cat is braided rope, then I'd say the cat hurts more, generally.

Different kind of hurt too, some people will like the strappy lightness more than the punishing thud.

i know, braided rope cats hurt like hell. I was subjected to one once. Ouch!

I've been planning to make one; I've got an old wooden-handled mop with very little mop left to it. I fgiure I can cut the handle into sections and have enough for at least three long-handled floggers or cats. That'll give me two chances to screw it up before I get it right.

Hehe You sound like me. I love tack shop treasures, always have. Such fun toys can be found there

If you ask me it is definitely the quirt! It hurts no two ways about it!

Ah, hell . . . .

I like them both . . . don't make me choose!

When you go to the bigger horseshows there are the flea markets (sometimes) where you can buy the neatest "tools" very cheaply.

Yep! and generally they are very well made as well.. most used crops and such are in quite good repair.. and depending what kind of things you enjoy the bits on the market are better then ever. I'm fond of the apple flavored rubber fullcheek snaffle myself.. Just haven't had the nerve to buy it for myself yet.. ball gags are abit.. to harsh for me.. or just to much in my mouth. Hmm.. quirt or cat...I suppose it's all in the weilder?..

I went to a flee market in the Eastern part of the state.
I got a beautiful hand made quirt for $7.00. It hurts. :D

I also got 2 nice riding crops for $6.00 each.
Good advice.
