We all have the ability to wound with words
I have been the victim of words in the past. I still hear some of the worst ones ringing in my ears. Once you say them they are out there and cannot be retracted. I think on the board it is all to easy to be glib and not really "hear" what it is you are saying, or see the pain it can cause. I am very blunt and very honest. I ask questions and not to be a smart ass. It is the nature of my work and personality to question appearances.
With all due respect I do not consider the ability of denegation something to be rewarded. Words have power. A person can use them to build or destroy. Words are not my stock and trade. I have always been more espressive with my paintbrush and garden. I admire the ability to write and transport someone for a period of time. I do not admire the ability to destroy with them. Whenever I have resorted to using vocabulary as a club I feel as if I have failed. This is just an opinion and one that will not be well recieved.
