and I said TWICE now that I meant essays/collected works and not novels. The repitition has to stop.

Why not just admit you were bullshitting about having a degree in Literature in order to snowball Rhys? It would be a lot easier than all this constant backtracking.

I mean, come on, you claimed the wrong degree, but that was "a typo". Somehow you got confused and forgot what your degree was in. Oh yeah, people do that all the time. "Hmm, why am I in the physics lab, I'm an economist." Yeah, simple mistake.

You named people who didn't write novels when asked who you considered the father of the European novel, and when called on it, you tried fudging with that "I meant essays" nonsense. Why would you be confused? What part of the word "novel" was unclear?

Why not withdraw as gracefully as possible and quit digging yourself a deeper hole?

you're amusing when you're trying to be intimidating. Since when have I backtracked? I am not bullshitting about the degree but believe what you want. For a long time now you have been convinced that I hate gays but you are wrong about that as well.
Dont you hate being wrong all the time?

You need thicker skin. Isn't that what you said to Rhys?

Take your own advice.

So your degree is in Classical Literature as you first posted, and not in American Literature as you now claim?

Q, I really think we should talk about American Literature. I would love for Scotty to enlighten us.

Scotty, what are the 5 quintessential American novels in your opinion? And why, do you select those 5?

What themes in American literature do you believe are distinctly American? And what authors, do you believe, are true products of American society.

Did you specialize on any time period in American literature or possibly a region/genre?

What do you think about female American authors and which do you think have had the greatest impact on American literature?

Yep, bitching about the mob mentality is such an original and non-conformist thing to do.

Pay no attention to my "I sold my soul to join a bandwagon at lit" t-shirt. it doesn't prove anything.

My 5 faves-
Grapes of Wrath- a tale of hardship during the Great Depression, showing how people delt in a dark period in modern American history.
Catcher in the Rye- the difficulties and indescretions of youth
Lolita- a mans yearning for what he can not have
1984- the search for truth no matter the personal consequences.

I do not specialize in any specific period but I do like the goth period. I also admire female authors such as Shelley and Plath.

I thought death of a Salesman was a play? And I thought 1984 was English?

Oh my god, this gets better and better.

Death Of A Salesman is a play, not a novel.

1984 was written by George Orwell, who is British.

Shelley was both British and a man!

I think the computers that tabulate the fantasy points were just desirous to see a team with a Black Quarterback do well.

Ok, first thing first. DOAS is a play. Fine. Arent you giddy?

1984 is considered to have American themes.

Mary Shelly was female. Look it up snookums.

My favourite American novel is the Brothers Karamazov.
