Of course, not all gifts are going to be something we want to receive. Which is the worst gift you got this year and why do you hate it? What will you do with it?

I don't have all of mine yet, but the gift in the lead is a pair of cheap looking candlestick holders (I know the person who gave them to me had good intentions). I have 3 pair of candlestick holders already, all very nice. These new ones will go to Good Will after Christmas.

Two years ago hubby got me this Amethyst(sp) necklace & earring set, it had to be the uglist thing I had ever seen. Plus, I'm a red-head, purple and I don't mix. I was honest, and we took it back and got a tennis bracelet. He now sticks to diamonds, pearls or gold.

Gift that I got this year that I hated.........well I would have to say My dad being in the hospital. This was very very sudden (last night) and I am at their house in Atlanta whilst all the food I had is at mine outside of Charlotte. This Christmas is not as good as it could have been but we will get through it.

Chuckus, then maybe we have to skip the Guru party for you today, but we'll all still be thinking about you. Hope your dad is okay!

Thanks Cheyenne, it was rather unexpected as in general he is in good health and not that old. He had chest pains yesterday and HE and my mother called the ambulance. She in turn called me and my sister, who lives near me.......and told us.......we drove down last night and here we are. He had a mild heart attack due to minor blockage....they say he will be okay just going to take time. He is having angio plasty tomorrow........the important thing is that he is ok and we are all together. We will be having Christmas in the Hospital later.....Thanks for your kind words Cheyenne.

I think I hear a nomination for your favorite Christmas gift this year! Surgery on Christmas Day! Good luck, sounds like your dad has had his warning sign and gets his second chance.

That would be it, Cheyenne........angio plasty on Christmas Day.......as for my dad, he heard the call and answered. I heard it too..so some things will change for me as well.

Thanks Cheyenne, Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I don't understand.. gifts?
But it's not Christmas day yet.

Oh well, can't win em all can they?

Nope...but they could win the important ones...HELLO!! We probably won't make it past the next game anyway...we never do.

Okay, you went there and I am........WE SUCK this year. But like I said earlier, can't win em all. GO SAINTS and RAVENS!!!! (oh and Tampa too!!!)

Sammyjo, I hope the Vikes do better this year than in previous years......I would like to see them win one finally with all that talent (plus me being originally born in MN......and my Cowboys suck......)

I dont know about a gift specifically but the worst christmas I ever had was the one after my father died, I had just turned 16- the thing was Im sure the gifts were nice gifts(cant remember) but its the worst thing ever to try to celebrate a holiday after someone you love dies-but before any of you get down, the upside is that I think of the last christmas I had with my father as kind of a best gift. I remember my sister and I got my dad a pair of those novelty cartoon slippers and he was all silly wearing them at christmas dinner and he had bought himself a gift and had me wrap it and sign it from our dog. He'd also bought my mom a beautiful ruby ring and hid it in the tree then bought two smaller versions of it for me and my sister. Anyways Merry Christmas to everyone and remember its not the gifts you should hold on to but rather the time spent with your loved ones :)

Barney Banjo

Sorry, Never. We opened all our gifts on Christmas Eve right after church. I can tell you the gift my family "hated" the most- the Barney Banjo that is one of the things I gave my 4 year old niece. She loves it (she asked for it). My sister-in-law waved it in my face after about an hour of listening to "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" and accusingly said "Did YOU buy this?"

My sister laughed. Little does she know, her daughter is getting the same banjo for her birthday in February. :)

One of the perks of being an aunt. I love to give stuff like that to my nieces. It is revenge for all the noisy, zapping ray gun things my sister gave my son for years. The gifts I hate are things like fruitcake & this fruit bread that my sweetie's sister makes. We say thank you, take it home & toss it.

Can you believe that everything I got I will enjoy? It is probably the first year this has ever happened, but honestly, the only bad thing this entire weekend was the Vikings loss. I got presents from all my siblings...never got a gift from them EVER!!! My daughter seems entirely thrilled with everything she got...huh?...I thought that the Jr. Monopoly game might throw her, but she was excited about it. And the one thing I wished for...my dad to be in a good mood...actually happened. He had so much fun buying and giving gifts...so much for the Scrooge attitude of the last month and a half...he even called me his special little girl...heehee...I don't think anything could ruin this day...not even my senile grandpa who is entirely rude without knowing it...

Hope everyone is doing well!!

Once (not this year) I got a tie that nearly made me barf. It was way to preppie for me... I have a fetish for nice ties... In fact, once I wanted my own line of riffties and riffwear in general... "simply riff" (?) maybe...

I loved all of my gifts this year. I my dad gave me a fishfinder as an early present. This morning I found a couple of sweaters, some cologne, a food processor, and CASH (the best gift) under the tree.
